Four Out of Five
The Rebels have won four out of five matches in the month of February. Last weekend, Ole Miss split matches at Arkansas on Feb. 20 and at Missouri on Feb. 22. The Rebels fell to the Razorbacks 4-3 in a closely-contested match. Ole Miss swept Missouri, 4-0, and have earned sweeps in their last three victories. Earlier this month Ole Miss earned victories over Memphis and North Alabama (twice).
300 for Beyers
Head Coach Mark Beyers earned his 300th career victory as a head coach in the Rebels' last home match (Feb. 12 versus North Alabama). In his 21st season at Ole Miss, Beyers has a career record of 261-212 (0.552).
Last Time Facing Georgia
The Rebels fell to the Bulldogs 4-0 on the road in 2020. Ole Miss defeated Georgia in their last meeting in Oxford, 4-3, in 2019. The Rebels trail the Bulldogs 40-11 in the all-time series.
Scouting the Bulldogs
Georgia has won five matches, losing once to No. 1 UNC by one decision point. Last Sunday, the Bulldogs swept the No. 19 Lady Vols at home, 4-0. Georgia has also defeated Georgia State, No. 8 Florida State, No. 9 Georgia Tech, and Georgia Southern.
Three-time SEC Player of the Week Katarina Jokic leads the Bulldogs squad. Jokic, ranked No. 19 in singles and No. 10 in doubles with Anna Hertel, opens the 2021 dual season undefeated in all matches. Lea Ma earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors on Wednesday (Feb. 24).
Last Time Facing Tennessee
The Rebels narrowly lost to the Lady Vols 4-3 last year. Ole Miss defeated Tennessee in doubles, and Anna Vrbenska and Alexa Bortles earned singles victories in a losing effort.
All time, Ole Miss trails Tennessee 28-21 in the series dating back to 1979. In Oxford, the two programs have split 20 matches, 10-10.
Scouting the Lady Vols
Tennessee has won six of nine matches this season. The Lady Vols are 5-0 versus non-ranked opponents and 1-2 when facing top-25 programs (defeating No. 25 Wake Forest).
Tennessee features three ranked singles players, No. 52 Rebeka Mertena, No. 85 Johanna Silva, and No. 118 Carly Briggs. Unranked Daria Kuczer leads the Lady Vols with seven victories in both singles and doubles.
Next Up
Ole Miss will begin a string of four road conference matches at LSU on March 5. The Tigers currently rank No. 19 in the nation.
