Pole Vault Highlights Brief Day One for Ole Miss Track & Field at John McDonnell Invitational

Competition Resumes Sunday at Noon on SECN+
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Ole Miss track & field put together some solid performances in the field to highlight its first day at Arkansas' John McDonnell Invitational on Saturday.
The women's pole vault crew led the way and were paced by sophomore Lyndsey Reed, who took third place at 4.19m (13-09.00) and was one of five alive at the next bar of 4.29m (14-00.75) alongside teammate Samara McConnell. McConnell took fifth at a new outdoor PR of 4.19m (13-09.00), which improves upon her spot in fourth all-time at Ole Miss by a half inch. Elizabeth Nix also cleared a three-inch PR of 3.89m (12-09.00) to finish eighth overall, the 10th-best clearance in school history.
Peyton Weissmann took fourth in the men's pole vault at 5.07m (16-07.50), while Miles Walden entered the all-time top-10 in eighth place with a PR height of 4.90m (16-00.75), the 10th-best in school history.
Ole Miss also had a good day in both editions of the triple jump. Freshman Kyla McLaurin recorded a new career-best of more than a foot and a half, finishing seventh at 12.10m (39-08.50) to push her up to No. 11 all-time in Ole Miss history.
In the men's triple jump, All-American senior Allen Gordon took runner-up honors at 15.18m (49-09.75). Entering this weekend, Gordon stood as the only jumper in the nation to hold marks of 7' 1" in the high jump, 25' 3.50" in the long jump and 50' 2" in the triple jump.
Action resumes for the Rebels at Day Two at 12 p.m. CT with the women's high jump and women's 100-meter hurdles prelim. Fans can watch a live stream via SEC Network+.
