Rebel Bats Held to Four Hits on Sunday
OXFORD, Miss. – Clinching the series on Saturday, Ole Miss (31-16, 12-9 SEC) was unable to complete the sweep over Auburn (26-16, 6-12 SEC) on Sunday, falling 3-1 to the Tigers at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.
Starter Ava Tillmann wore the loss in the circle despite allowing just three hits, tossing four-plus innings with two runs allowed. Anna Borgen came on in relief for the final three frames, allowing a single unearned run.
After Ole Miss failed to capitalize on a pair of scoring chances in the early innings, Auburn grabbed the lead in the top of the fifth thanks to three-straight singles. However, Ole Miss was able to limit the damage in the frame, throwing out a runner at second base and collecting two more outs to hold the Tigers to two runs.
Ole Miss immediately cut the deficit in half, with Paige Smith sending Nyomi Jones home from second with a single up the middle. The Tigers, though, struck right back in the sixth, capitalizing on a Rebel error to score an unearned run and make it 3-1.
The Rebels put the leadoff runner on in both the sixth and the seventh but couldn't bring any more runs home, dropping the series finale.

Ole Miss will close out its non-conference schedule next weekend, taking on UCF in a three-game series at the Ole Miss Softball Complex Friday through Sunday. All three games will be streamed live on SEC Network +.
