No. 34 Women’s Tennis Sweeps Tennessee State Twice

Rebels Defeat Lions 7-0, 4-0, to Improve to 5-2
OXFORD, Miss. – No. 34 Ole Miss Women's Tennis (5-2, 0-0 SEC) earned two dominant victories at home versus the Tennessee State Tigers on Friday.
The Rebels controlled both matches of Friday's doubleheader from start to finish. Ole Miss defeated Tennessee State twice without losing a set in either match. The Rebels won 11 different sets between the two matches by a score of 6-0.
The Tigers only brought five players to the William F. Galtney Center, resulting in Tennessee State having to forfeit both No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. The Rebels started each match with a 1-0 lead in doubles and a 1-0 overall lead in the match with an automatic singles point.
The Rebels and Tigers played the first match in full. Anaëlle Leclercq-Ficher and Kelsey Mize won at No. 1 Doubles, 6-0, to set an early tone for the Rebels. Ludmila Kareisová and Elysia Pool won the closest match of the day, 6-4, to sweep doubles 3-0. The Rebels then controlled singles play, winning all five matches without allowing more than three games in any particular set. Both Reka Zadaori and Pool earned 6-0, 6-0 wins in Match No. 1. The Rebels swept 7-0.
Ole Miss and Tennessee State played the second-leg of the doubleheader to clinch. The won Court No. 2 in doubles, 6-0, to clinch the opening point with No. 1 doubles unfinished (Rebels held a 5-1 lead). Lillian Gabrielsen defeated the Tigers' Mckhia McCrary 6-0, 6-1, to give the Rebels a 3-0 lead in the match. Kareisová sealed a 4-0 sweep for the Rebels by earning a 6-0, 6-0 victory versus Naomi Von Bose at No. 1 Singles. Ole Miss led by one set on all unfinished courts.
Up Next: The Rebels will undergo a quick turnaround to host Louisiana-Monroe at home at Noon CT on Sunday. The Warhawks come to Oxford with a 2-4 record.
