Five Homer Night Carries No. 9 Baseball Over North Alabama

Rebels Dominate Lions 20-3 at Swayze
OXFORD, Miss. – Peyton Chatagnier took the third pitch of the bottom of the first inning over the fence in right-center and Ole Miss never looked back, blowing by North Alabama 20-3 Tuesday night at Swayze Field.
Ole Miss (17-7) racked up five big flies on the night, scoring in all six innings on offense. Calvin Harris paced a Rebel offense that saw 11 different players notch a hit, going 3-for-4 with five runs driven in.
Jack Washburn was pulled after reaching his pitch count limitation after the third inning. The junior picked up his third win of the season, allowing one unearned run while striking out four.
After Chatagnier's solo shot, North Alabama (6-17) tied the game in the second thanks to a leadoff single, a stolen base, a passed ball and an RBI groundout. After that, it was all Rebels.
In his second game back from injury, Harris pummeled a ball into the visiting team bullpen to plate a pair and regain the Rebel lead at 3-1 after two complete. Doubles from Tim Elko, Hayden Leatherwood and Harris helped Ole Miss tack on five more in the third before the Rebels blew the doors off completely in the fourth.
Jacob Gonzalez got the fun started with a homer to leadoff the frame, followed by back-to-back walks and three-straight RBI singles by TJ McCants, Kemp Alderman and Leatherwood. Harris delivered an RBI single to right and Gonzalez scored Leatherwood with a sac fly before Justin Bench capped the nine-run explosion with a no-doubt dinger to left. When all was said and done, it was 17-1.
North Alabama got a pair of runs across in the fifth but Ole Miss immediately answered with two of its own. The first came on John Kramer's first-career home run, a blast to center. Banks Tolley followed shortly after with a single up the middle, bringing across Ben Van Cleve.
The final run of the night came home in the sixth when Gonzalez scored on a ground ball off the bat of pinch hitter Tywone Malone, who reached on a fielding error.
Ole Miss resumes SEC play this weekend, heading to Lexington, Kentucky to take on the Kentucky Wildcats in a three-game series Friday to Sunday. All three games will be streamed on SEC Network +, with the radio call available through the Ole Miss Radio Network.
