No. 22 Men’s Golf Travels to Tallahassee to Compete in Seminole Intercollegiate

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – After returning to the states from a successful time in Los Cabos, Mexico, No. 22 Ole Miss men's golf looks to continue its momentum at the Seminole Intercollegiate hosted by Florida State. The two-day tournament is set to compete at the par-72, 7,505-yard Seminole Legacy Golf Club from March 13-14.
 
The Rebels are coming off are big week at the Cabo Collegiate where they earned 2nd place among a stacked field of 13 top-50 ranked teams with three Rebels warranting top-20 finishes.

THE COURSE
Fresh off a comprehensive multi-million-dollar golf course renovation led by Nicklaus Design, Seminole Legacy Golf Club offers an unrivaled and exceptional golf experience for players of all ages and abilities. Stretching out to 7,800 yards from the back tees, the golf course offers surprising elevation changes of up to 50 feet, and offers stunning visuals highlighted by 100-year old live oaks and stately pine trees.
 
Since its massive renovation, the Legacy Club has hosted the 2021 NCAA Tallahassee Men's Golf Regional, the 2021 Florida State Match-up, the 2022 Florida State Match-up and the 2022 NCAA Tallahassee Women's Golf Regional. This will be the first year the Seminole Legacy Golf Club will be hosting the Seminole Intercollegiate.

"We are looking forward to getting back into action this week in Tallahassee. Anytime you are playing well like we did last week in Cabo, you want to keep it rolling. This week will offer a true challenge, especially around the greens. We look forward to welcoming those challenges."
 
SCHELL – THE COMEBACK KID
Brett Schell shot a career-low round of 64 (-7) to finish out his time at the Cabo Collegiate with a bang, tied for 2nd place – a career-best finish. The 64 round-score also broke the Twin Dolphin Club round-score record. Schell went bogey-free for 17 holes in the final round while carding an impressive number of eight birdies. He maintained a 4-under front nine and a 3-under back nine to achieve the accomplishment.
 
In the second round, Schell came back from his 5-over first-round score and rose 30 spots on the leaderboard with a 68 (-3) round score. The junior made five birdies through his 18 holes of the day and obtained a bogey-free, 4-under back-nine to launch him up the rankings.
 
Overall, Schell led the field in birdies, carding 18. From his first round to his final round, Schell managed to rise 46 spots on the leaderboard.
 
REBS FIND SUCCESS IN CABO
Ole Miss men's golf maintained 2nd place position throughout the entirety of the Cabo Collegiate, but the real fun came on the final day of competition. The Rebels held nothing back as they shot a round score of 280 (-4). Paired with the top-3 teams in the nation, the Rebels achieved the lowest round of the day among the 15-team field. Ole Miss closed out its time at the Twin Dolphin Club in 2nd place with an overall score of 846 (-6).
 
The Rebels went low during the third round, carding 17 birdies and creating a five-stroke lead for 2nd place. Overall, Ole Miss was able to put in 54 birdies and two eagles through 54 holes. The Rebels led the field in par-5 scoring (-19), which led them to finish above 11 top-50 ranked teams on the leaderboard.
 
C.J. MAKES REBEL DEBUT
The Seminole Intercollegiate will be the first time Auburn transfer, C.J. Easley, will make his career debut in the Red and Blue. Easley was a three-year letter-winner with the Tigers and a 2021 GCAA All-American Scholar. Easley earned one SEC Newcomer of the Week award (3/18/21) and one SEC Freshman of the Week award (3/11/20) in his career. Overall, he played in 18 total tournaments with the Tigers, logging a career stroke average of 72.56. He concluded his junior season with two top 20 finishes in his 10 tournament appearances, with those two finishes coming in back-to-back tournaments. The Oxford, Mississippi, native, logged 10 rounds at par or better, eight rounds under par and four rounds in the 60s during the 2021-22 season.
 
NEXT ON THE TEE
Following play in Tallahassee, the Rebels will have a quick turnaround getting ready for the All-American Intercollegiate (Mar. 20-21) in Houston, Texas. The event will be a two-day tournament played at the Golf Club of Houston.
