LOS CABOS, Mexico – On the final day of the Cabo Collegiate, Ole Miss men's golf held nothing back as it shot a round score of 280 (-4). Paired with the top-3 teams in the nation, the Rebels achieved the lowest round of the day among the 15-team field. Ole Miss closed out its time at the Twin Dolphin Club in 2nd place with an overall score of 846 (-6).

The Rebels went low during the third round, carding 17 birdies and creating a five-stroke lead for 2nd place. Overall, Ole Miss was able to put in 54 birdies and two eagles through 54 holes. The Rebels led the field in par-5 scoring (-19), which led them to finish above 11 top-50 ranked teams on the leaderboard.

"I'm really proud of our entire squad this week," head coach Chris Malloy said. "Each player had their positives to take away and really contributed to our success. Hats off to Vanderbilt. We had our opportunities but they were just a little sharper than we were this week. There is no doubt this should give us the confidence that we need the rest of the spring."

The star of the day was junior Brett Schell, who shot a career-low round of 64 (-7) to finish out his time in Cabo tied for 2nd place – a career-best finish. Schell went bogey-free for 17 holes while carding an impressive number of eight birdies. He maintained a 4-under front nine and a 3-under back nine to achieve the accomplishment. The Saint Augustine, Florida, native led the field in birdies, carding 18. From his first round to his final round, Schell managed to rise 46 spots on the leaderboard.

For the fifth time in his freshman season, Cameron Tankersley finished inside the top 20 – earning a tie for 13th place with an even overall score. Tankersley shot his best round of the tournament in the final round with a low score of 69 (-2) to give him the honors. The freshman maintained a bogey-free back nine while carding an eagle on Hole 13.

Sarut Vongchaisit played even golf for his first eight holes of the day, but fell in the back nine. Vongchaisit earned a tied for 19th ranking at 3-over overall, his 11th top 20 finish in his career.

Hugo Townsend made six birdies in his final 18 holes to end with an even round score. His three consecutive birdies on Holes 16, 17, and 18 launched him up the leaderboard and helped him achieve his tied for 23rd finish – rising eight spots in the third round.

Patton Samuels ended his fourth tournament with Ole Miss tied for 29th at 5-over overall. Samuels managed par on 37 holes throughout his rounds on the Twin Dolphin Club.

Following play in Los Cabos, the Rebels will return to the states and will have a quick turnaround getting ready for the Seminole Intercollegiate (Mar. 13-14) in Tallahassee, Florida. The event will be a two-day tournament played at the Seminole Legacy Golf Course.
