Women’s Basketball Goes Undefeated in Pool Play at the 2023 USA Basketball 3X Nationals

Rebels Pick Up Three Wins in 3x3 Action
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Following the first day of pool play at the 2023 USA Basketball 3X Nationals, Ole Miss women's basketball's Snudda Collins, Marquesha Davis, Madison Scott and Ayanna Thompson proved their athleticism by coming away undefeated with three wins. The Rebels advance to tomorrow's quarterfinals after defeating St. John's, UCLA and Maryland.
In Ole Miss' first game of the day against St. John's, Collins opened up the with a shot from beyond the arc, as the Rebels took off to grab an early lead and never looked back. Within the final minute, Collins drained yet another two to secure a six-point lead for Ole Miss to go on to defeat St. John's 17-11.
Davis got the Rebels cooking in Game 2 against UCLA, to build a 6-4 lead. The Bruins started to heat up from beyond the arc to grab a lead at 12-9. The Rebels pulled within two at 15-13 with under two-minutes left to make a push. Meeting UCLA at 17 all, Scott drew a foul and converted on the free-throw to jump back in the lead. A make by Collins from deep pushed Ole Miss to grab a 20-17 victory.
Wrapping up the day against Maryland, Ole Miss and the Terrapins traded shots back and forth tied through 10 all. Maryland went ahead by four at 14-10, until Thompson cut into the lead with a deep shot to come within two. Another deep bucket from Davis, flipped the script as the Rebels took their first lead at 16-15. Ole Miss refused to let Maryland back in it, to walk away with a 21-18 win.
The Rebels conclude pool play with an unblemished record of 3-0 to advance to Sunday's knockout games, advancing to the quarterfinals at 10:50 a.m. CT.
3X Nationals serve as an evaluation for selection to various 2023 USA Basketball 3x3 men's and women's national teams, including the 2023 FIBA 3x3 World Cup, set for May 30-June 4 in Vienna, Austria, and roster spots for USA Basketball World Tour, Women's Series and U21 and U23 Nations League teams.
Played on a half court with a 10-minute clock and a 12-second shot clock, the first team to 21 points, or the team in the lead at the end of regulation, is the winner.
