CHICAGO – Ole Miss men's and women's cross country will travel to the Windy City for Loyola's 44th annual Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational, hosted at Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course on Friday morning.

The Rebels are fresh off a team sweep at the Southern Showcase on Sept. 15, which featured two dominant team wins each by the Ole Miss men's and women's squads. Those performances helped push the Rebels into the national rankings, with the men currently at No. 23 and the women at No. 25 heading into action in Chicago this week.

The No. 25 Ole Miss women face a deep championship 6K race ahead of them on Friday morning as one of four ranked teams in competition alongside No. 17 Wisconsin, No. 26 Michigan and No. 30 Ohio State, in addition to three other teams receiving votes in the latest USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll.

Ole Miss used a tight scoring spread of just 40 seconds en route to a 37-point victory in the women's 5K at Huntsville, led by senior Skylar Boogerd in third place overall at 16:46.20. The Rebels placed all five scorers within the top-14 spots, and that was without senior Ryann Helmers, who will debut this week in Chicago.

Last season, Helmers was Ole Miss' top finisher at each meet of the year, culminating with her 88th place individual finish at the NCAA Championships. Helmers was also an NCAA All-South Region and All-SEC honoree, which followed a season that saw her clock the fastest 6K in recorded Ole Miss women's history at 19:37.2.

Also running for the Rebel women this Friday are junior Beth Arentz, sophomore Sophie Baumann, junior Madison Hulsey, junior Hannah Ielfield, senior Jocelyn Long, sophomore Sarah Schiffmann, senior Kristel van den Berg and senior Loral Winn.

The No. 23 Ole Miss men have a challenge ahead of them in the championship 8K race as well, as one of three ranked teams running alongside No. 4 Wisconsin and No. 20 Tulsa. The team battle against the 4th-ranked Badgers will be a familiar one for Ole Miss' top finisher from two weeks ago, junior Wisconsin transfer Jack Meijer. The British native led the Rebel men to a dominant 42-point victory in the 8K at Huntsville, clocking a near-PR of 23:43.50 to lead a pack of five Ole Miss runners scoring within 20 seconds.

Following him was All-American senior Cole Bullock in sixth (23:43.60), as well as other key additions from the transfer portal in sophomore Toby Gillen (sixth, 23:43.60) and senior Cruz Gomez (eighth, 23:45.90).

Other Rebel men in competition this week include junior Aiden Britt, redshirt freshman Landen McNair, junior Miles Phillips, sophomore Gabe Scales and junior Chase Rose.

Competition begins with the Tom Cooney Women's Championship 6K Race at 11:25 a.m. CT, followed by the men's championship 8K at noon CT.
