Men’s Golf Tied for Second After Day One at Fallen Oak

BILOXI, Miss. – A strong back nine propelled the No. 2 Ole Miss men's golf team to a 289 (+1) score on day one at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational. Cameron Tankersley, Tom Fischer, and brothers Collins and Cohen Trolio all sit inside the top 15 for the Rebels.
Head coach Chris Malloy's thoughts on day one:
"We certainly feel that we didn't have our best stuff today. However, they battled all day and stayed within striking distance of the leaders. We have two rounds to get it rolling and end the fall season how we would like."
Sophomore Collins Trolio was the story of the day for the Rebels after 18 holes in Biloxi. The West Point, Mississippi native who is competing as an individual shot (-1) 71, placing him in a tie for fourth. Trolio carded four birdies on the day and is one of 13 players under-par in the field.
Cameron Tankersley and Tom Fischer also fired (-1) rounds of 71. Tankersley bounced after a slow start with an eagle on the par 4 seventh. He carded two birdies on his back nine, shooting (-2) 34 coming in. Fischer tallied three circles on the day and carded a bogey-free back nine of (-1) 35.
Cohen Trolio sits at T14 after shooting even par 72 in his opening round.
