Men’s Golf Leads After Two Rounds at Fallen Oak

BILOXI, Miss. – Behind a new career-low 18-hole score, Kye Meeks led the No. 2 Ole Miss men’s golf team to a 274 (-14) team score on day two at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational. Meeks carded a seven-under 65 on moving day and sits in solo second heading into the final round on Monday.
Head coach Chris Malloy’s thoughts on day two:
“The guys fought their tails off today. Kye Meeks led the guys and I’m quite proud of how he was able to keep digging for more. We have some great momentum going into the last day. We’ve been in this spot before this season and have learned from the past. We’ll keep playing aggressive and see how it stacks up when the dust settles.”
Meeks came out of the gates hot with four birdies on his front nine. He would card five more on the back, taking advantage of both par 5s. It marked his fifth round in the 60s this season.

Cohen Trolio and Tom Fischer both sit inside the top three at two-under. Trolio fired a quiet (-2) 70 on moving day, tallying five birdies. Fischer recorded his second straight under-par score, shooting (-1) 71. He hit a beautiful approach on the par 5 15th to set up his second eagle of the season.
Sophomore Collins Trolio who is competing as an individual grinded out a one-over score of 73 on Sunday and remains inside the top 15 heading into Monday’s final round.
Junior Michael La Sasso had a bounce back day after round 1 struggles. The Raleigh, North Carolina native shot (-4) 68 for his seventh round in the 60s this fall.
Collins Trolio will lead the Rebels off in the final round beginning at 9 a.m. CT on hole 10. Cameron Tankersley will follow at 9:40 a.m. with La Sasso, Fischer, Cohen Trolio, and Meeks following in 10 minute intervals off hole one.
