Football at Arkansas: What to Watch

OXFORD, Miss. – The No. 18 Ole Miss football team is headed to the Natural State to take on longtime rival Arkansas in its latest Southeastern Conference matchup.

Off the Field
One of Arkansas' greatest strengths is sustaining drives. The Razorbacks lead the SEC and rank No. 3 nationally with 206 first downs on the season. Arkansas also is third in the league No. 14 in the nation in third-down conversion percentage at 48.6. If the Rebels can get three-and-outs and get off the field quickly, they can control the game.

Key Matchup: D-Line vs. Green
The matchup of Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green and the Ole Miss defensive line could decide this contest. The Rebels are No. 2 in the nation and lead the SEC with 33 sacks on the season, averaging 4.1 per game. Excluding the Tennessee win, Green is averaging 85.5 rushing yards per game in Arkansas' wins. He has netted negative-four yards in the Razorbacks' two SEC losses to Texas A&M and LSU. If Ole Miss can contain Green, it will have a much better chance of escaping Fayetteville triumphant.

Home Team Trending
Judging solely off of history, Arkansas should be the massive favorite in this game. The home team has won the last five contests in the series, including all four in the Lane Kiffin era. Ole Miss is just 2-13 all-time in Fayetteville, its wins coming in 2000 and 2008. Can the Rebels reverse the trends?

Hogs Feast or Famine
For Arkansas this season, the final outcome has mirrored its defensive performance. The Razorbacks are allowing just 16.0 points per game in their five wins this season, which would be good for No. 11 in the nation. Conversely, the Hogs have allowed 31.3 points per game in their three losses. If Ole Miss can score, it can win.

Pooh Returns
Arkansas transfer Chris Paul Jr. returns to his former stomping ground this weekend. Paul appeared in 28 games and started 11 as a key defensive contributor over three seasons for the Razorbacks. After racking up 137 tackles with the Hogs, Paul has paced the Ole Miss defense this season with 59 tackles, including eight for a loss and 2.5 sacks, adding seven QB hurries and three pass breakups. After notching 11 tackles last week against Oklahoma, will he have another big game back in Fayetteville?
