Men’s Golf Travels to Tallahassee to Compete in Seminole Intercollegiate

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – After a quick turnaround from its return from the Cabo Collegiate, the No. 7 ranked Ole Miss men's golf team will set its focus toward the Seminole Intercollegiate hosted by Florida State.
The two-day tournament will be held Monday through Tuesday, March 11-12, at the par-72, 7,505-yard Seminole Legacy Golf Course. The Rebels will compete against 13 other teams during their time in Florida.
TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
Monday, March 11 – 36 holes
Tuesday, March 12 – 18 holes
• The first Rebel will tee off at 6:30 a.m. CT and follow in eight-minute increments
THE LINEUP
1. Michael La Sasso (So.)
• Leads the team and SEC with a 68.33 stroke average
• Earned SEC Golfer of the Week honors last week for his performance at Cabo Collegiate
• Finished his time in Cabo with a 2nd place finish at 9-under overall after going 7-under in his final nine holes
• No. 2 golfer in the nation based on recent Clippd rankings
• Named on the 2024 Ben Hogan Award Watch List and Fred Haskins Award Watch List
2. Cameron Tankersley (So.)
• Holds a 70.93 stroke average, second best on the team
• Finished inside the top-15 in three tournaments this season
• Made the lineup in every tournament in his Rebel career
• Shot eight rounds even/below par this season
3. Tim Tillmanns (Sr.)
• Holds a 71.40 stroke average
• Shot six rounds thus far in the 60s
• Made the lineup in every tournament as a Rebel
• Tied season-low round score of 66 at the Puerto Rico Classic and the Cabo Collegiate
4. Tom Fischer (So.)
• Competing with a 71.00 stroke average
• Counted 14 out of 15 rounds toward team score
• Made 54 birdies, averaging 3.60 per round
• Shot 211 (-5) at the Puerto Rico Classic earlier this spring
5. Patton Samuels (So.)
• Competing with a 72.07 stroke average
• Made 51 birdies thus far, averaging 3.40
• Shot a career-low round of 65 at the Puerto Rico Classic
• Finished the Puerto Rico Classic with a 210 (-6) final score
Individual. Kye Meeks (R-Jr.)
• Holds a 73.00 stroke average this season, 72.49 in his career
• Third time competing this season, second time as an individual
• Shot a final round of 69 at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate
• Finished tied for 32nd at the Fallen Oak Collegiate, his last appearance for Ole Miss

Fresh off a comprehensive multi-million-dollar golf course renovation led by Nicklaus Design, Seminole Legacy Golf Club offers an unrivaled and exceptional golf experience for players of all ages and abilities. Stretching out to 7,800 yards from the back tees, the golf course offers surprising elevation changes of up to 50 feet, and offers stunning visuals highlighted by 100-year old live oaks and stately pine trees.
Since its massive renovation, the Legacy Club has hosted the 2021 NCAA Tallahassee Men's Golf Regional, the 2021 Florida State Match-up, the 2022 Florida State Match-up and the 2022 NCAA Tallahassee Women's Golf Regional. This will be the second year the Seminole Legacy Golf Club will be hosting the Seminole Intercollegiate.

LAST TIME IN TALLAHASSEE
Ole Miss wrapped its third tournament of the 2023 spring season at the Seminole Intercollegiate in third place with an overall score of 891 (+27). After finishing the end of the second round in the morning, the Rebels continued on into the third round and put up a 17-over round score. Ole Miss fought high winds during its last time in Tallahassee but still came out with two Rebels, Hugo Townsend and CJ Easley, in the top 15 with its 3rd place finish.

Sophomore Michael La Sasso was recognized as the SEC Men's Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. The honor follows the Rebel's 2nd place finish at the Cabo Collegiate where he earned his third top-5 finish of the season with an overall score of 204 (-9). La Sasso carried his team on his back in the final round at Cabo, scoring a 64 (-7) third round. The sophomore was just one stroke shy of earning medalist honors inside a stacked field that included 18 of the top 50 amateurs in the world.
Overall on the season, the Rebel has been named to the Ben Hogan Award Watch List and the Haskins Award Watch List. All 15 of his rounds this season have counted towards the team score, and he has been Ole Miss' top finisher in every tournament thus far into the season. La Sasso is the current active SEC leader in stroke average of 68.33.

Ole Miss will return to Oxford and begin preparing for the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate hosted by SEC foes Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee from April 5-7.
