3/31/2024 | Softball
OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss softball fell to No. 22 South Carolina 4-0 on Sunday at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.
The Rebels (20-14, 3-9 SEC) were held in check at the plate by the Gamecock (26-10, 3-6 SEC) pitching staff, only registering six hits on the afternoon.
South Carolina got on the board first after a two-run home run in the third inning. The Gamecocks nearly doubled their lead with a second homer, but after review, the runner on first left early and was called out, keeping the score 2-0.
Ole Miss looked to even things up in the fourth but couldn't come up with a clutch hit after Lexie Brady singled, and Jamie Mackay doubled to put two in scoring position, but they were left stranded.
The Gamecocks tacked on two more runs in the fifth with an RBI triple and a sacrifice fly. It ended up being all they needed as the Rebels were unable to climb back.
