SCOUTING THE FIELD
Stephanie VanBrakle Prothro leads the Memphis Tigers in her second season as head coach. So far in 2024, the Tigers are off to a 3-15 start, including a pair of wins over UT Martin and Jackson State last weekend at the 901 Classic. Offensively, three Tigers boast batting averages over .300, led by McKaylee Polk. Arianna Cox-Cole also led the offense with 15 hits and eight runs scored this season. In the circle, Taniyah Brown has a 2-7 record to go along with a 5.64 ERA through 49.2 innings pitched. As a staff, Memphis owns a 6.10 ERA on the year. The Rebels lead the all-time series with Memphis 9-2 and have won each of the last four meetings dating back to the 2019 season.

THE LAST TIME OUT
Playing at home for the first time this season on a brand new field, the Rebels hosted Kent State, Southeastern Louisiana and UAB in the annual Ole Miss Classic over the weekend. Ole Miss went 3-2 through five games, earning shutouts in all three victories. Makenna Kliethermes carries the workload, going 2-0 in both of her starts and only surrendering four hits in 8.0 innings pitched. Jaden Pone led the Rebels offensively, hitting .429 on the weekend. The junior tallied six hits and scored five runs. Aynslie Furbush also had a solid weekend all-around, pitching 9.0 innings in the circle and posting a .417 mark at the plate.

LEADOFF LASSITER
After capping off her rookie campaign with NFCA All-South Region Third Team Honors, Jalia Lassiter is proving to be one of the most electric players in the SEC. Just a sophomore, the Atmore, Alabama, native brings a different level of energy to the diamond with her game-changing speed, swagger and confidence. Hitting in the leadoff spot, she leads the Rebels with a .373 mark at the plate and 25 hits (65th nationally) so far this season. Lassiter has tallied multiple hits in eight contests and has reached base in all but two.

OFFENSIVE FIREPOWER
Racking up 162 hits through the first 19 games of the season, Ole Miss' offense is firing on all cylinders. The Rebels boast a .321 batting average as a team, the fifth best mark in the SEC and 40th best nationally. Further, the Rebels have recorded at least 10 hits in eight of their 19 games so far this season, including 17 against Miami (OH) at the Clemson Classic, the most in the Trachsel Era and the third most by an SEC team this season.

Not only are the Rebels seeing the ball fly off the bat, but they are showing patience at the plate, drawing 68 walks (31st nationally) to boast the 22nd best on-base percentage in all of Division I softball at .418.

BRADY BUNCH
After patiently waiting for her opportunity, Lexie Brady took over as the Rebels' starting catcher for 19 of the final 20 games last season, powering Ole Miss down the stretch. Over Opening Weekend in Hawaii, she started her junior season off with a bang, mashing three home runs, including her first career multi-home run game, and driving in 11 runs. Brady, a Sioux Falls, South Dakota, native, has been a threat hitting cleanup for the majority of the season. She leads the team with six home runs (third in the SEC) and 21 RBI (11th in the SEC) on the season.

DON'T LET THE REBS GET HOT
Through the first 19 games of the 2024 campaign, Ole Miss softball is off to a blistering start. The Rebels boast a 14-5 record, their second-best start to a season under head coach Jamie Trachsel. Ole Miss bounced back after losing its season opener to BYU in Hawaii, winning 10 straight games. The Rebels dropped a pair of tough contests against No. 9 Clemson to round out February and went 3-2 at home last weekend in the Ole Miss Classic.
