Ole Miss Football Ranked No. 6 in Preseason Coaches Poll

OXFORD, Miss. – USA Today released the 2024 Preseason Coaches Poll on Monday, revealing the highest preseason top 25 ranking in more than 50 years for Ole Miss football.
Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss earned a No. 6 preseason ranking in the eyes of the American Football Coaches Association, behind Alabama, Texas, Oregon, Ohio State and top-ranked Georgia.
The No. 6 ranking is the highest for the Rebels heading into the season since 1970, when they were ranked No. 5 to start the year. Ole Miss last started the season in the top 10 in 2009, ranking eighth.
Ole Miss ranked as high as fifth in the way-too-early preseason polls. The Rebels were sixth in ESPN's post-spring top 25.
The Rebels finished the 2023 season ranked No. 9 in both the Coaches and Associated Press polls, their highest ranking in the final Coaches Poll since 2015 (9th) and highest in the final AP Poll since 1969 (8th).
Since then, Ole Miss brought back a Heisman Trophy candidate at quarterback in Jaxson Dart, along with many other key players from last season's 11-2 team, and added the No. 1 transfer portal class in the country.
