OLE MISS VS. ALABAMA
The Rebels and Crimson Tide will face off the 67th time in their history, with Ole Miss holding a 38-28 series advantage. The series dates to 1977. Ole Miss claimed the first five victories of the series, ultimately winning 19 of the first 22 matches against Alabama.
The Rebels went on an eight-game winning streak against the Crimson Tide from 2004-09. The Rebels claimed four of those victories by more than 20 points, including an 84-43 victory in Oxford on Feb. 11, 2007. The 41-point victory is the largest win by either team in the series. Armintie Price went for 19 points to lead the Rebels in that game, while accumulating five steals and five assists. Bianca Thomas had the second-most points for the Rebels, scoring 17 points off the bench with a trio of 3-pointers.
Ole Miss holds a two-game winning streak against Alabama entering this game, and have won four of the last five matchups. In Oxford, the Rebels are 16-12 against the Crimson Tide.
Last season, the Rebels pulled off a 55-45 victory over the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa to open conference play 1-0. Alabama's 45 points were its second-fewest total for the 2023-24 season. Madison Scott and Kennedy Todd-Williams reached double-digit point totals with 12 and 10, respectively. Rita Igbokwe rattled off five blocks as Ole Miss totaled 12 as a team, the most in a road game in program history.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON TIDE
Kristy Curry leads Alabama in her 12th season with the program. She's guided the Crimson Tide to a 212-155 record in her time in Tuscaloosa, as they enter Sunday's matchup with a 15-2 overall record and 2-1 SEC mark. Alabama is coming off an 84-40 loss to Texas, its lowest scoring total of the season.
Alabama boasts four players averaging double-figure points, with graduate transfer Zaay Green leading the charge. She's averaging 16.1 points to go along with 4.0 assists and 4.6 rebounds. She scored a season-high 28 points against California while making 13 field goals. She also had double-double ability, producing a 22-point and 10-rebound night against Georgia State.
Green and the Crimson Tide boast the 24th-best scoring offense in the country. Alabama is one of the best 3-point shooting teams in the country and in the SEC, as they average 8.6 per game on 36.8% shooting, the second-highest mark in the conference.
Aaliyah Nye is the catalyst for the Crimson Tide long range attack, as she leads the SEC in triples. She's made 3.41 3-pointers per game for 58 total midway through the season, both pacing the conference and third nationally. Her season-best 30 points came with eight scores from beyond the arc, which tied her own program record for most in a game.
Essence Cody defends the frontcourt for Alabama, averaging 6.6 rebounds per game with 1.6 blocks. Her 27 blocks this season is fifth in the SEC. Sarah Ashlee Barker and Karly Weathers lend a hand defensively for the Crimson Tide, picking up 2.1 and 1.7 steals per game, respectively. Campbell transfer Christabel Ezumah lays claim to the third-most career blocks by an SEC player with 145 in her five years of experience.
LAST TIME OUT
Kennedy Todd-Williams fueled Ole Miss past Vanderbilt in a convincing 87-59 win on Thursday night at the SJB Pavilion to open conference play at home.
Ole Miss held Vanderbilt to fewer than 60 points for the first time this season and 30 points below its average, as the Rebels surpassed the 80-point mark for the ninth time this season, marking the first time a team has achieved this feat since the 2009-10 season.
Todd-Williams had a career night for the Rebels, as she set a career-high 25 points. Her point total is the highest by any Rebel this season, thanks in part to her five 3-pointers, which also marked a career best. She became the first Rebel since the 2022-23 season to hit that many from behind the arc in a single game. The Jacksonville, North Carolina, native also went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Todd-Williams now has two games north of 20 points as a Rebel, and 31 points in double figures in the Blue and Red.
Outside of her scoring prowess, Todd-Williams led the team with six rebounds and had a season-high seven assists. In total, Todd-Williams accounted for 40 points for the Rebels against the Commodores.
IN OUR DEFENSE
It's well known that Ole Miss aims to dictate and disrupt, a goal the Rebel defense has accomplished so far.
Ole Miss has held the No. 1 spot in the nation for fewest points allowed per game since Dec. 15. The Rebels are the only team to hold opponents to below an average of 50 points, allowing just 49.1 points per game. Through fifteen games in the 2024-25 season, Ole Miss has forced eight teams to score fewer than 50 points.
The next best defense in the SEC is South Carolina who sits all the way down at No. 18, allowing an average of 54.9 points per game.
WE AIN'T SCARED
Yolett McPhee-McCuin values the importance of playing top-tier opponents in non-conference play and it shows in the NCAA's NET Rankings.
Consistently sitting in the Top 25 in the NET Rankings, the Rebels came in at No. 14 in the latest update. This marks the second highest in program history, the best being when Ole Miss were notched at No. 13 on Jan. 2 and 3.
HOME SWEET HOME
This season, the Rebels won all seven nonconference games at the SJB Pavilion, the third time Ole Miss has entered conference competition undefeated at home under Coach Yo.
Additionally, holds an 11-game winning home streak, dating back to last season's victory over Mississippi State on Feb. 18, 2023.
HOTTY (KENNEDY) TODDY
Kennedy Todd-Williams had a career night against Vanderbilt, as the senior Rebel notched a career-best 25 points and five 3-pointers to lead Ole Miss to a convincing 87-59 win in its SEC home opener.
Against the Commodores, Todd-Williams was a key part of the Rebels' dominant victory, leading both teams in almost all major statistics categories: points (25), rebounds (6), assists (7) and blocks (2), all while committing zero turnovers.
DIME DROPPIN' AND NOT STOPPIN'
Sharing is truly caring and against Alcorn State this remained true, as Ole Miss dished out 28 assists on 37 made field goals, which set an SJB Pavilion record previously established in 2020, once again against Alcorn State. Madison Scott led the Rebels with seven helpers, followed by KK Deans with six.
Ball movement also remained key in the Rebels' victory over Vanderbilt, as Ole Miss tallied 26 assists on 33 made field goals. Tameiya Sadler, Madison Scott and Kennedy Todd-Williams led the Rebels with seven helpers, followed by Sira Thienou with four.
FANTASTIC FIRST FIVE
All five of Ole Miss' starters have scored in double digits in three games this year. Prior to this season, an Ole Miss starting lineup hadn't accomplished that feat since since facing Louisiana on Dec. 12, 2018
Against MVSU, the Rebels opened with Sira Thienou, Kennedy Todd-Williams, Starr Jacobs, Madison Scott and Kharyssa Richardson. The Rebels achieved the feat again versus Alcorn State and Vanderbilt after Thienou, Todd-Williams, Jacobs, Scott and Tameiya Sadler each reached 10-plus points in both games.
Rebel starters have scored 824 of Ole Miss' 1189 points (69%) throughout the season.
