Women’s Basketball Places Sixth in Preseason SEC Media Poll, Cotie McMahon Earns Second Team All-SEC

10/13/2025 | Women's Basketball

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The honors for the 2025-26 season have started to roll in, as Ole Miss women's basketball was recognized at No. 6 in the projected order of finish, while Cotie McMahon was selected to the preseason All-SEC second team by the media, the conference announced on Monday.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that Ole Miss has received top-six preseason recognition after earning a No. 4 selection in 2023, and No. 5 selections in 2024 and 2022. Additionally, the Rebels have surpassed expectations four times in the last five years, ending the season higher in the standings than voted on in the SEC Preseason Media Poll.

Ole Miss returns three letterwinners from last season's Sweet 16 team, which secured at least 10 conference victories and 20 total wins for the fourth straight year. Head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin is ready to take the program to new heights for her eighth season at the helm for the Rebels.

Nine newcomers join the Rebels this season, including eight transfers who make up the nation's No. 2 transfer portal class. This group adds significant experience to the roster, as the 2025-26 roster collectively boast 460 Division I starts, 15 All-Conference selections, and eight Sweet 16 appearances.

Leading the incoming class is McMahon, recognized as the top forward available in the transfer portal. A four-time All-America honorable mention and seven-time All-Conference performer, McMahon started all 97 games across three seasons in Columbus, helping guide her former team to an Elite Eight appearance as a freshman.

Fans will have the chance to catch the Rebels in action in their lone exhibition of the season, hosting Southern Arkansas at the SJB Pavilion on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2:00 p.m. CT. Admission is free for all to attend.
