Volleyball Concludes Regular Season, Hosts Florida

11/13/2025 | Volleyball

OXFORD, Miss. – For the final time in the 2025 regular season, the Ole Miss volleyball program is back in the Gillom Athletics Performance Center, hosting Florida on Friday at 1 p.m. CT.

The Rebels (12-13, 4-10 SEC) welcome the Gators (13-10, 8-6 SEC) in another critical clash in the SEC Tournament seeding push. The match will be streamed via SEC Network Plus.

RALLY POINTS
  • The Rebels will wrap up the regular season on Friday, welcoming the Florida Gators to Oxford.
  • The Rebels can finish anywhere from No. 12 to the No. 14 seed in the upcoming SEC Tournament.
  • Friday marks a reunion for assistant coach Savannah Rennie as she faces off with her former head coach at Marquette, Ryan Theis for the first time since Theis took over at Florida.
  • Junior Gabi Placide continues to make a push for All-SEC honors, ranking second in the SEC in kills (437) and second in points (503.5).
  • Cammy Niesen, the program's all-time digs leader entered the top-10 in SEC history at LSU and continue her climb up the leaderboard, needing 7 digs for sole possession of ninth all-time.
  • Niesen was particularly impactful last week, tallying 19 digs and six assists en route to SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
  • Mokihana Tufono is closing in on back-to-back 1,000-assist seasons, standing at 984 entering play on Friday. She would be the first Rebel in nine years to accomplish the feat.
SERIES HISTORY
  • Ole Miss is hoping to break through against the Gators, but trail 7-62 in the all-time series. The Rebels are seeking their first win against the Gators since 1989. All seven of Ole Miss' wins against Florida came either in Oxford or in a neutral site. In last season's bout, Florida claimed a 3-1 victory in Gainesville, but Cammy Niesen had 20 digs while a trio of Rebels had double-digit kills.
  • Ole Miss saw history made against Florida in 1989's five-set victory over the Gators, as all-time Rebel Mary Ahern set the still-standing single match kill record with 33. Ahern's setter, Michelle Whitby-York, tallied 71 assists in that match, which was the first of only four instances of a Rebel recording at least 70 assists in a single match.
LAST TIME OUT
The Rebels dropped the final road match of the regular season, falling 3-0 at South Carolina on Wednesday. Carly Paugh delivered a breakout performance with a career-high 10 kills on .300 hitting, but the offense largely struggled to get going beyond her, as South Carolina limited the Rebels to a season-low in hitting. Gabi Placide added 10 kills and 11 digs in the loss.

CAN YOU DIG IT?
Senior libero Cammy Niesen has made history all-season smashing the program's all-eras dig record that stood for 14 years (by Morgan Springer). The 2024 SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year has been a model of consistency her entire career and is now poised to add to her all-time lead as SEC play continues.

Niesen has quietly emerged as one of the best liberos in the SEC over her dynamic career and has now entered the SEC top-10 all-time. Niesen is seven digs away from sole possession of ninth all-time.

Last season, Niesen led the SEC in total digs with 537, which also ranked 33rd in the nation. This season, Niesen continues to impact the game, ranking second in the SEC in digs per set (4.21). Niesen took home SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors on Nov. 10 behind those efforts.

In fact, Niesen ranks fifth in the NCAA on the active digs leaderboard with 1,795.

Active Leaders
1. Emma Hickey, Valparaiso - 2,606
2. Maya Sands, Missouri - 1,941
3. Lauren Lindseth, Montana State - 1,901
4. Campbell Jensen, UC Irvine - 1,809
5. Cammy Niesen, Ole Miss - 1,795
6. Emma Farrell, Wake Forest - 1,776
7. LonDynn Betts, West Virginia - 1,774
8. Kamryn Farris, South Dakota - 1,717
9. Ella Voegele, St. Thomas - 1,706
10. Breanna Mitchell, Boise State - 1,686

AT EASE WITH PLACIDE
Gabi Placide has become the SEC's breakout star since arriving in Oxford this season and will be a critical part of the Rebels lineup as SEC play continues.

Placide has surged to the forefront of the national rankings, ranking second in the SEC with 503.5 points and second with 437 kills, while ranking 11th and 12th nationally in each. The Centennial, Colo., native also ranks 11th nationally in points per set and 13th nationally in kills per set.

Her efforts earned her a mid-season addition to the AVCA's Player of the Year Watch List. Placide also took home SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors following back-to-back career-highs in wins over Texas Tech and UAlbany. Placide has carried that play into SEC action, recording a career-high 28 kills in a win over Alabama and hitting over .300 with 18 kills in a sweep at Georgia.

MOKI MAGIC
Setter Mokihana Tufono was named to the All-SEC Preseason Team after a dynamic junior season and has only elevated her game in year two as a Rebel. Tufono continues to be a bright spot, leading the SEC in total assists at 984 and ranking 17th nationally. Tufono is seeking to become the first Rebel to record back-to-back 1,000 assist seasons in nine years.

Tufono has also been the catalyst for Gabi Placide's breakout campaign as a pin and has recorded four, 50-assist matches this season. Additionally, Tufono has taken strides on the defensive end, recording the first 40-assist, 20-dig match of her career at Mississippi State, exploding for 47 assists and a career-high 22 digs. Tufono added to that with a second 40-20 performance in a victory over Alabama.

NEXT GENERATION
Head coach Bre Henry and the Ole Miss volleyball program welcomed five new additions to the program next season as the Rebels signed Rileigh Butler, Jaidyn Hartsfield, Ryea Jackson, Coco Natarajan and Sophie Taylor on National Signing Day.

Natarajan and Jackson were both tabbed to the AVCA's Phenom Watch List, while Natarajan was named to AVCA All-American Watch List in 2025.

Four of the five additions to the class have come from the state of Texas, including three from the same volleyball club - MadFrog Volleyball Club. The Rebels have heavily scouted the Lone Star State, as Butler, Hartsfield, Jackson and Natarajan will join fellow Texans Carson Eickenloff, Carly Paugh, Keirstyn Carlton and Cameron Bradley in 2026.

Jackson will help anchor the middle of the court, while Hartsfield and Taylor join the fold as athletic pins. Butler will join Cameron Bradley and Bella Bonanno as liberos, while Natarajan will join Carson Eickenloff and Vivianna Samaniego in the setter room next season.

CLIMBING THE LADDER
Several Rebels are poised to etch their names in the all-time record books in 2025 across multiple different metrics.

In addition to clinching the all-eras digs record at Ole Miss, Cammy Niesen is also poised to enter the top-10 all-time in service aces, with 68 in her career. That stands just three outside the rally scoring era's top-10. Shayla Meyer has moved into the rally scoring era top-10 with 71 in her career. Meyer needs just one more ace for sole possession of ninth.

Mokihana Tufono continues her rapid ascent of the assists charts in her short time at Ole Miss. Tufono currently sits fifth all-time in the rally scoring era with 2,157 and ninth across all eras, despite only playing just 53 matches as a Rebel.
