11/20/2025 | Volleyball

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Ole Miss volleyball program is set to join fellow SEC programs in the return of the SEC Tournament, traveling east to Enmarket Arena in Savannah, Georgia.

The Rebels (12-14, 4-11 SEC) face off with the No. 11 seed LSU (13-13, 6-9 SEC) to open the event on Friday, Nov. 21 at approximately 6 p.m. CT. Should the Rebels win, they would advance to face No. 6 seed Missouri.

All matches will be televised on the SEC Network, with the exception of day two, which will move to SEC Network Plus.

RALLY POINTS

  •  Junior Gabi Placide continues to make a push for All-Region honors, ranking second in the SEC in kills (450) and second in points (517.5).
  • Ole Miss is 9-2 when Placide hits over .240 in a match, but just 3-10 when she does not.
  • Cammy Niesen, the program's all-time digs leader entered the top-10 in SEC history at LSU and continue her climb up the leaderboard, needing 43 digs for sole possession of eighth all-time.
  • Melia Johnson is hitting her stride on offense, recording 16 kills on .367 hitting against Florida and 21 kills on .432 hitting against LSU in her last four matches.
  • Head coach Bre Henry has won each of her last five matches against an opponent she's facing for the second time in a season.
LAST TIME OUT
In the final home match of the regular season, the Rebels put up a strong effort, but fell, 3-1 to Florida on Friday. Melia Johnson delivered another big performance, hitting .367 with 16 kills and five digs, while the defense behind her notched 70 digs, including 20 from Cammy Niesen in her final match at Gillom. The Rebels rallied to take the second set after a slow start, but the Gators weathered the storm in front a big crowd in Oxford.

TAKING A SECOND LOOK
Head coach Bre Henry has shined in her career when getting a second look at a team in the same season. While the SEC has gone away from the old scheduling model that saw some rematches each season, Henry has led the Rebels to stronger performances across the board in match two, winning each of her last five chances. In fact, Henry has improved her result in second matchup 61.5 percent of the time at Ole Miss.

CAN YOU DIG IT?
Senior libero Cammy Niesen has made history all-season smashing the program's all-eras dig record that stood for 14 years (by Morgan Springer). The 2024 SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year has been a model of consistency her entire career and is now poised to add to her all-time lead as SEC play continues.

Niesen has quietly emerged as one of the best liberos in the SEC over her dynamic career and has now entered the SEC top-10 all-time. Niesen is 43 digs away from sole possession of ninth all-time.

Last season, Niesen led the SEC in total digs with 537, which also ranked 33rd in the nation. This season, Niesen continues to impact the game, ranking second in the SEC in digs per set (4.24). Niesen took home SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors on Nov. 10 behind those efforts.

In fact, Niesen ranks fifth in the NCAA on the active digs leaderboard with 1,795.

1. Emma Hickey, Valparaiso - 2,647
2. Maya Sands, Missouri - 1,979
3. Lauren Lindseth, Montana State - 1,925
4. Campbell Jensen, UC Irvine - 1,854
5. Cammy Niesen, Ole Miss - 1,815
6. Emma Farrell, Wake Forest - 1,811
7. LonDynn Betts, West Virginia - 1,795
8. Kamryn Farris, South Dakota - 1,759
9. Ella Voegele, St. Thomas - 1,749
10. Breanna Mitchell, Boise State - 1,723

AT EASE WITH PLACIDE
Gabi Placide has become a breakout star in the SEC since arriving in Oxford, surging to the forefront of the national rankings. Placide ranks second in the SEC with 517.5 points and second with 450 kills, while ranking 14th and 18th nationally in each. The Centennial, Colo., native also ranks 11th nationally in points per set and 14th nationally in kills per set.

Her efforts earned her a mid-season addition to the AVCA's Player of the Year Watch List. Placide also took home SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors following back-to-back career-highs in wins over Texas Tech and UAlbany. Placide carried that play into SEC action, recording a career-high 28 kills in a win over Alabama and hitting over .300 with 18 kills in a sweep of Georgia.

MOKI MAGIC
Setter Mokihana Tufono was named to the All-SEC Preseason Team after a dynamic junior season and has only elevated her game in year two as a Rebel. Tufono continues to be a bright spot, leading the SEC in total assists at 1,026 and ranking 26th nationally. Tufono recently became the first Rebel to record back-to-back 1,000 assist seasons in nine years.

Tufono has also been the catalyst for Gabi Placide's breakout campaign as a pin and has recorded four, 50-assist matches this season. Additionally, Tufono has taken strides on the defensive end, recording the first 40-assist, 20-dig match of her career at Mississippi State, exploding for 47 assists and a career-high 22 digs. Tufono added to that with a second 40-20 performance in a victory over Alabama.

NEXT GENERATION
Head coach Bre Henry and the Ole Miss volleyball program welcomed five new additions to the program next season as the Rebels signed Rileigh Butler, Jaidyn Hartsfield, Ryea Jackson, Coco Natarajan and Sophie Taylor on National Signing Day.

Natarajan and Jackson were both tabbed to the AVCA's Phenom Watch List, while Natarajan was named to AVCA All-American Watch List in 2025.

Four of the five additions to the class have come from the state of Texas, including three from the same volleyball club - MadFrog Volleyball Club. The Rebels have heavily scouted the Lone Star State, as Butler, Hartsfield, Jackson and Natarajan will join fellow Texans Carson Eickenloff, Carly Paugh, Keirstyn Carlton and Cameron Bradley in 2026.

Jackson will help anchor the middle of the court, while Hartsfield and Taylor join the fold as athletic pins. Butler will join Cameron Bradley and Bella Bonanno as liberos, while Natarajan will join Carson Eickenloff and Vivianna Samaniego in the setter room next season.

CLIMBING THE LADDER
Several Rebels are poised to etch their names in the all-time record books in 2025 across multiple different metrics.

In addition to clinching the all-eras digs record at Ole Miss, Cammy Niesen is also poised to enter the top-10 all-time in service aces, with 68 in her career. That stands just three outside the rally scoring era's top-10. Shayla Meyer has moved into the rally scoring era top-10 with 71 in her career. Meyer needs just one more ace for sole possession of ninth.

Mokihana Tufono continues her rapid ascent of the assists charts in her short time at Ole Miss. Tufono currently sits fifth all-time in the rally scoring era with 2,199 and ninth across all eras, despite only playing just 54 matches as a Rebel.
