SERIES HISTORY
Thursday's matchup will be the 56th edition of the series between Ole Miss and Georgia. The Lady Bulldogs hold a 38-17 advantage in the series, but the Rebels have come out on top in the past four outings. The four-game winning streak is the longest for the Rebels in series history. Three of those wins came in Athens, where Georgia holds a 20-3 advantage. Ole Miss will look to even the series in Oxford, as Georgia has an 11-10 advantage as the road team.
Georgia accounts for three of Ole Miss' victories over AP top-10 teams, its most recent being in the Rebels' first victory in Athens in program history on Jan. 24, 2010. In a 66-65 nailbiter, all five of Ole Miss' starters scored in double figures to upset No. 8 Georgia. The Rebels allowed just 33.3% shooting from the field by the Lady Bulldogs, while draining nine 3-pointers.
Elizabeth Robertson scored a team-leading 17 points, while Nikki Byrd collected a 13-point, 14-rebound double-double. Robertson drained five threes for the most in the game.
Two of the past three victories for Ole Miss over Georgia have come by double-digit margins, including 2024's 73-51 stomping at the SJB Pavilion. Marquesha Davis scored 20 points to lead the Rebels, while Madison Scott and Kennedy Todd-Williams added 16 and 15, respectively.
Last season, the Rebels earned a gritty victory in Athens, 63-58. Scott and Todd-Williams scored 19 and 15, respectively, to lead the team. Scott had eight rebounds and five assists, both leading the Rebels in the respective categories. Christeen Iwuala had a solid outing, scoring seven points with six rebounds off the bench.
SCOUTING THE LADY BULLDOGS
Katie Abrahamson-Henderson is in her fourth season leading Georgia's women's basketball program. She's accrued a 61-49 record in her time at the helm as the Lady Bulldogs enter Thursday's match with a perfect 14-0 record.
Despite being selected near the bottom of this year's SEC preseason polls, Georgia has exceeded expectations by not only winning games, but dominating them. The Lady Bulldogs have the 16th-best scoring margin in the nation, and are winning games by an average of 29.6 points. More impressively, Georgia is one of the youngest teams in the SEC, with most of its key contributors being either true freshmen or sophomores.
Much of that offensive success comes from its backcourt duo of Dani Carnegie and Trinity Turner. Carnegie, a transfer from Georgia Tech, paces the team in scoring while Turner is dishing out the most assists. Carnegie's 17.1 points per game average is top-100 in the nation and top-10 in the SEC. She gets her points from beyond the arc as well as in the paint, averaging 47.3 percent from long distance. That mark is second-best in the SEC.
Turner is in her second season with the Lady Bulldog program after making a splash as a freshman last season. She was a member of the SEC All-Freshman Team while leading Georgia with 12.2 points per game. She had nine points and four assists when she faced Ole Miss last season. This year, she's averaging 4.7 assists per game, which is seventh-best in the SEC, while incorporating a smart playstyle that limits turnovers. Her assist/turnover ratio is one of the best in the conference at 2.2. She's also a defensive fiend, recording 28 steals this season.
Outside of that dynamic duo, Georgia boasts a talented forward group with Mia Woolfolk and Zhen Craft. The pair are averaging 12.5 and 7.2 points per game, respectively, and both are averaging north of five rebounds per game.
The Rebels will need to key in on the Lady Bulldog's long-distance shooting, as Georgia has the best 3-point shooters in the SEC. Georgia is shooting 38.8 percent from beyond the arc with much of its guards capable of pulling up from deep. Carnegie, Turner and junior guard Rylie Theuerkauf are the most dangerous. Theuerkauf is just behind Carnegie with a .443 clip from 3-point range and has made 31 deep shots this season.
LAST TIME OUT
Ole Miss escaped an early deficit to Alcorn State to emerge victorious, 64-44, in the nonconference finale on Sunday afternoon at the SJB Pavilion in Oxford, Mississippi.
Latasha Lattimore had an impressive game from start-to-finish for the Rebels, recording her second double-double of the season and 15th of her overall career. She scored 14 points and brought down 12 rebounds, while also swatting four Alcorn State shots. Lattimore has five games this season with at least three blocks, four of which have come in the last five games. She's recorded at least one block in nine consecutive competitions. Rita Igbokwe, who had a 10-game block streak and six games with at least three blocks in 2023-24, is the most recent Rebel to have this stretch of dominance in the paint.
Cotie McMahon was once again Ole Miss' top scorer of the day, dropping 21 points, her seventh game this season north of 20 points.
NONCON SUCCESS
Ole Miss will enter SEC play with the most wins in a nonconference slate in the 21st century. No Rebel squad has begun SEC with at least 13 wins since 2000, except for Coach Yo's Team 51.
NO FLY ZONE
As a team, Ole Miss rejected 77 shots during the nonconference slate for an average of 5.1 blocks per game. Latasha Lattimore leads the Rebels with 31 total blocks, ranking third in the SEC and 13th in the nation. All eleven other Rebels has earned at least one block so far this season.
The Rebels are on pace for 159 blocks this season at their current pace, which would be the third most in program history.
C-SQUARED
Christeen Iwuala and Cotie McMahon have become quite the dynamic duo for the Rebels. Combined the two seniors account for 41.9% of the Rebels' points this season and together have been the game leaders in scoring 14 out of the 15 matchups. In rebounding, the pair has accounted for 33.1% of Ole Miss' total rebounds, leading the Rebels' in boards in 12 out of the 15 games so far. Iwuala has earned six double-doubles this year, and McMahon has notched three, combining for nine of the eleven double-doubles any Rebel has registered during the 2025-26 season.
THE IWUALA IMPACT
Christeen Iwuala has established herself as one of the top frontcourt players in the SEC throughout the nonconference season. She has recorded a double-double in a team-high six outings this year, after previously never earning the feat in any of her three seasons of collegiate basketball prior.
Additionally, Iwuala has grabbed the most rebounds by a Rebel in ten games this year, leading Ole Miss in the category, while also leading the Rebels in scoring five times. She has especially shown to be effective in second chance opportunities, ranking second in the SEC and 23rd in the nation in offensive rebounds with 3.9 per game.
Iwuala is following the pattern that Rebel transfers under Coach Yo tend to blossom in their second year in Oxford, joining the likes of Marquesha Davis, Angel Baker and Shakira Austin.
SHE'S THE mcMAHON
Cotie McMahon has provided a spark to the Ole Miss offense in her first season in Oxford, She has scored at least 10 points in each of Ole Miss' first 15 games this season, surpassing Shandricka Sessom's 14-game mark set in 2015-16. McMahon now sets her sights on Nikki Byrd, who started the 2011-12 season with 17 consecutive games of double-digit points. Should she keep her pace, McMahon will tie Byrd against Texas and pass her against Oklahoma.year.
Additionally, in Ole Miss' matchup against MVSU, McMahon became the eighth Rebel in program history to surpass 1,700 career points, currently sitting at 1,763.
