Arvesta Troupe Wins SEC Silver in Men’s High Jump

2/28/2025 | Track and Field

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Junior Arvesta Troupe won silver on a career-best leap of 2.22m/7-03.25 in the high jump to win his first career SEC indoor medal and second overall.

After clearing the first bar at 2.06m/6-9 on his third attempt, Troupe was clean over his next four bars – including over that career-best 2.22m/7-03.25. Troupe took three strong attempts at 2.25m/7-04.50 in what essentially turned into a jump-off with eventual champion Kyren Washington of Oklahoma, who was able to clear on his second attempt for the win.

Troupe's jump today improves upon his spot at third in program history and currently puts him into a tie for ninth nationally, which greatly improves his chances of qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Just three weeks ago, Troupe cleared his prior PR of 2.21m/7-3 at the New Mexico Classic. This is the highest SEC medal for Troupe after winning bronze outdoors as a sophomore last spring.
