MEET NOTES
• The Rebel men currently rank No. 17 in the latest USTFCCCA Indoor Rating Index released for Week Five. Ole Miss has appeared in the men's rankings in all five releases this indoor season.

• Other ranked SEC men's schools this week include: No. 1 Arkansas, No. 4 Texas A&M, No. 7 Auburn, No. 9 Oklahoma, No. 12 Florida, No. 15 Mississippi State and No. 23 Missouri.

• Ranked SEC women's schools include: No. 1 Arkansas, No. 7 Georgia, No. 9 LSU, No. 10 Oklahoma, No. 12 Texas A&M, No. 13 South Carolina, No. 16 Tennessee, No. 18 Florida and No. 22 Alabama.

• Ole Miss has won 57 SEC Indoor titles (40 men, 17 women) with 84 total SEC Champions (64 men, 20 women).

• Under 10th-year head coach Connie Price-Smith, Ole Miss has set its highest SEC Indoor finish in women's competition three times (tied for fourth, 2023; fifth, 2017, 2022), and tied for the best men's finish twice with third-place finishes in 2016 and 2017.

• Last season, both Rebel squads took fifth place at the indoor conference meet, helped greatly by the first sweep of the men's and women's shot put and weight throw in conference history by current junior and two-time NCAA champion Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan and eventual NCAA weight champ Jalani Davis, respectively.

• Furthermore, Robinson-O'Hagan was the first in SEC men's history to sweep the shot put and weight throw, and combined with his shot put and hammer wins outdoors, he became the first in conference history win all four in one year. Robinson-O'Hagan is the reigning SEC Indoor and Outdoor Men's Field Athlete of the Year and the reigning points champion both indoors and outdoors, and he has already won the SEC Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors five times this season.

• A member of The Bowerman watch list, Robinson-O'Hagan is the current collegiate leader in the shot put at his career-best of 21.11m/69-03.25, as well as the SEC leader and NCAA No. 4 performer in the weight throw at his PR of 24.17m/79-03.75.

• In the shot put, Robinson-O'Hagan currently ranks 12th worldwide and third among all Americans at that career-best heave that won him the Music City Challenge -- a comeback victory on his sixth and final attempt.

• He is undefeated in the shot put this indoor season and overall has not lost to a fellow collegian in the shot put since Florida's Tom Jones Memorial last outdoor season. Indoors alone, Robinson-O'Hagan has not lost a shot put competition to a collegiate competitor since Jan. 27, 2024 at the Razorback Invitational.

• That shot put best ranks him tied for 21st in collegiate history indoors, and he is inching closer to the overall SEC record of 21.33m/69-11.75 set by South Carolina's Josh Awotunde in 2018. No SEC men's thrower has broken 70 feet indoors, and only Georgia's Brent Noon ever has outdoors, throwing the still-standing SEC absolute record of 21.47m/70-05.25 in 1995.

• In the weight throw, Robinson-O'Hagan's 24.17m/79-03.75 from the New Mexico Classic ranks him 12th in collegiate history. He is within striking distance of the overall SEC record in the weight as well, which was set at 24.46m/80-3 by Florida's Thomas Mardal in 2021. A throw beyond the 80-foot plateau would put Robinson-O'Hagan next to Mardal as the lone 80-footers in SEC history.

• Robinson-O'Hagan is one of only three athletes in collegiate history to record 21 meters in the shot put and 24 meters in the weight throw alongside North Dakota State's Payton Otterdahl and Ohio State's Dan Taylor -- the latter of whom was also coached by Ole Miss throws coach John Smith.

• Robinson-O'Hagan ranks third in collegiate history indoors in combined weight throw and shot put distance at 45.28m behind Otterdahl (45.92m) and Taylor (45.34m). Robinson-O'Hagan is also one of two throwers in collegiate history alongside Otterdahl to ever break 79 feet in the weight (24.17m/79-03.75) and 69 feet in the shot (21.05m/69-00.75).

• At both Arkansas' Razorback Invitational and Vanderbilt's Music City Challenge this season, Robinson-O'Hagan joined Otterdahl as the lone two athletes in collegiate history to break 21 meters in the shot put and 23 meters in the weight throw in the same meet. Both Robinson-O'Hagan and Otterdahl have done so twice apiece -- Otterdahl both in 2019. If Robinson-O'Hagan were to break 24 in the weight and 21 in the shot put this weekend, he would join Otterdahl's 2019 NCAA Indoor meet as the lone such performances in collegiate history.

• All-American senior Toby Gillen joins Robinson-O'Hagan as the lone returning SEC Indoor medalists for the Rebel men from 2024, with Gillen earning silver medal honors for the Rebels last season. Gillen currently ranks fourth in the SEC in both the 5K at his school-record 13:28.34 from Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invite on Feb. 14 (NCAA No. 25), as well as his 3K PR of 7:48.66 from the Razorback Invitational on Feb. 1 (NCAA No. 34).

• Senior newcomer Kidus Misgina has run two excellent 3Ks in his first pair of races as a Rebel, first a PR of 7:51.98 and then another of 7:51.86 from the Valentine Invite two weeks ago -- both good for No. 3 in Ole Miss history. Misgina currently ranks seventh in the conference, and both he and Gillen are scheduled to run in both events this weekend.

• Junior Arvesta Troupe is currently within the bubble for national qualifying contention at his high jump career-best of 2.21m/7-3 from the New Mexico Classic earlier this month, which ranks 12th nationally and fourth in the SEC at the moment. That height is the best by a Rebel men's jumper indoors since 2014, and gives him sole possession of third all-time in Ole Miss history indoors.

• Last week at Notre Dame's Alex Wilson Invite, the Rebel men's distance medley relay of Gabe Scales (1200-meter: 2:53), Max Armstrong (400-meter: 47.0), Marcus Dropik (800-meter: 1:47) and Evan Thornton-Sherman (mile: 3:55) clocked the fourth-fastest DMR in Ole Miss history at 9:24.07. That time currently sits 17th nationally and third in the SEC, while all four Rebels ran PRs on their legs of the relay. This weekend, Scales and Thornton-Sherman are entered in the mile, 3K and DMR, while Armstrong and Dropik both are slotted in the 800-meter, 4x400-meter relay and DMR.

• Junior Bryson Smith is already the second-best in school history behind Robinson-O'Hagan, currently ranking 25th nationally at his career-best 21.81m/71-06.75 from Vanderbilt. Smith and Robinson-O'Hagan are the lone 70-footers in Ole Miss history.

• Ole Miss has won seven of the last eight SEC women's weight throw titles since 2017, with Janeah Stewart winning in 2017 and 2018, Shey Taiwo winning in 2020, Jasmine Mitchell winning in 2021 and 2022, and two-time NCAA weight throw champion Jalani Davis winning in 2023 and 2024. At five straight wins, Ole Miss is currently tied for the SEC record of five set by Florida from 2001-05, with a win giving the Rebels the record outright.

• Sophomore Akaoma Odeluga leads the way for the Rebel women, her top performance being her SEC-leading and collegiate No. 5 shot put best of 18.37m/60-03.25 from the Rod McCravy Invitational. That mark currently sits her at No. 17 worldwide and No. 7 in the United States this indoor season.

• At Arkansas, Odeluga beat out reigning NCAA Outdoor champion and 2024 U.S. Olympian Jaida Ross of Oregon by one centimeter, 18.21m/59-9 to Ross' 18.20m/59-08.50.

• Odeluga already ranks third in Ole Miss history indoors at that career-best heave, and it made her one of three 60-footers indoors in Rebel women's history alongside Olympian Raven Saunders (19.56m/64-02.25) and All-American Jalani Davis (18.61m/61-00.75).

• Her performance ranks No. 22 all-time in collegiate history, making Ole Miss one of two schools besides Arizona State with three entrants in the top-25 alongside Saunders (No. 2) and Davis (No. 13).

• In the weight throw, Odeluga currently ranks 18th nationally and fourth in the SEC at her career-best 21.47m/70-05.25. Odeluga has already improved 11 feet in the weight throw from her freshman PR of 18.25m/59-10.50.

• Fellow sophomore Mensi Stiff – the first Ole Miss freshman to ever qualify for nationals in the shot put – had her best outing of the season at Vanderbilt's Music City Challenge, ending as the top collegiate finisher on a season-best 17.23m/56-06.50 that currently ranks her 20th nationally and sixth in the SEC.

• Fellow sophomore Skylar Soli owns a top-30 mark in the weight throw of her own, currently ranking 28th nationally and sixth in the SEC at her career-best 20.96m/68-09.25.
