No. 3 Men’s Golf Finishes Second at Mason Rudolph Championship

4/5/2025 | Men's Golf

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The No. 3 Ole Miss men’s golf team completed play at the 2025 Mason Rudolph Championship Saturday afternoon picking up a second-place finish. The Rebels compiled a team score of (-33, 819), as every player finished inside the top 13 individually.

Due to inclement weather, round two began Friday afternoon with the continuous play format in place. Ole Miss continued their solid play Friday afternoon and into Saturday morning as all five Rebels found red figures for the second consecutive round.

Michael La Sasso carded his second straight round of (-4, 67). He would shoot two-under over his first nine holes, going out in 33. For the second day in a row, La Sasso would close strong, shooting three-under over his final five holes.

Tennessee native Cameron Tankersley would also shoot (-4, 67) in round two sliding him to five-under for the tournament. After a bogey on No. 2, Tankersley would tally five birdies over his final 16 holes including one at the difficult par 3 12th which stretched 225 yds long this week at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. Tankersley entered the clubhouse T10 with 18 holes to play.

Kye Meeks joined Tankersley at five-under at the conclusion of round two after posting a score of (-1, 70). It marked his 12th round under-par this season.

Tom Fischer and Cohen Trolio would both card a (-2, 69) for the second consecutive round Saturday morning. They would each sit T13 heading into the final round of play.

Tankersley led the field in par 3 scoring and Trolio ranked second in par 4 scoring. La Sasso ranked second in par 5 scoring over the course of round two. After back-to-back rounds of (-12, 272) the Rebels found themselves at 24-under and just four shots behind No. 18 Vanderbilt with 18 holes to play.

Ole Miss would turn in a final round score of (-9, 275), marking their third under-par team score on the weekend. The Rebels were paced by only No. 1 Auburn who shot 16-under in the final round to win by five strokes.

Tom Fischer would have the low round for the Rebels with a bogey-free (-4, 67) in round three. He would pick up all four birdies during his back nine on the North Course. Fischer ended his weekend with three rounds in the 60s, finishing solo ninth at eight-under par.

Cohen Trolio carded his third straight round of (-2, 69) to conclude the Mason Rudolph Championship. He would finish T13, marking his best finish since the 2025 Puerto Rico Classic (Feb. 10-12). Kye Meeks joined Trolio at T13 after a final round of one-under 70. The duo each secured their fifth top 20 finish on the season.

Cameron Tankersley would finish tied for 10th after a final round of two-under 69. He would shoot seven-under over the course of the weekend tallying his fifth top 10 finish of the 2024-25 campaign.

Michael La Sasso led the way for Ole Miss all weekend carding a final round of one-under 70. The junior from Raleigh, North Carolina finished tied for sixth with a score of (-9, 204). La Sasso picked up his 13th round in the 60s on the weekend, tying Hugo Townsend and Jackson Suber for the 4th most rounds in the 60s in a single season in program history.

The second-place finish marks the sixth time this season Ole Miss has finished second or better in an event. Every Rebel carded an under-par score in each round. It marks just the second time this season and first since the victory at the Hamptons Intercollegiate (Oct. 7-8) that all five Rebels finished inside the top 15 individually.

Ole Miss will return to Oxford and prepare for their regular season finale at the Mossy Oak Invitational April 14-15, in West Point, Mississippi. Mossy Oak Golf Club will be the site of the two-day event with Mississippi State set to serve as the host.
