Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan Finishes Third, Scores Six Crucial Points in NCAA Men’s Hammer Final

6/11/2025 | Track and Field

EUGENE, Ore. – Ole Miss men's track & field junior Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan cemented himself as the best combined hammer/shot thrower in collegiate history, finishing third in a powerful NCAA hammer final to kick things off for the Rebels on Wednesday.

His third-place finish is the best ever by a Rebel men's hammer thrower, and today's finish gives him an 11th-career All-America honor and 53 career NCAA points scored.

All four of Robinson-O'Hagan's legal throws on the day sailed past the 75-meter mark, including two career-best bombs beyond 76 meters. In the fourth round, Robinson-O'Hagan unleashed a near three-foot improvement to 76.61m/251-4, and in the next round added seven more inches on his best of the day at 76.78m/251-11.

That mark not only resets his own Ole Miss record, but it moves him to No. 3 in SEC history and No. 16 in collegiate history – No. 4 among American-born collegiate hammer throwers. This season, that puts him No. 23 worldwide and fifth in the United States.

As aforementioned, his hammer exploits today give him the combined collegiate record in men's hammer and shot put, with his combined total standing at 97.89 meters – breaking the record held by Georgia's Denzel Commentia from 2019 at 97.68 meters. Robinson-O'Hagan also ranks second indoors in combined shot put/weight throw distance, with his senior season in 2026 ripe for him to take the indoor combo record as well.

Robinson-O'Hagan now has a couple hours to rest and prepare for his title defense in the men's shot put, which is set to start at 8:10 p.m. CT.
