Reasner Sets Single Game RBI Record as Softball Rolls Past Memphis
3/31/2026 | Softball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Ole Miss softball's Cassie Reasner etched her name in the record books as the Ole Miss softball program rolled to a 10-0 victory at Memphis on Tuesday evening at the Tigers Softball Complex.
Reasner set a new single-game record with seven RBI on the day, as part of a two home run game. Persy Llamas added a career-high four hits for the Rebels (24-15, 2-10 SEC) while Lilly Whitten threw a complete game shutout to stifle the Tigers (11-25, 2-10 AAC).
The day began slowly, with both sides recording two scoreless frames. Whitten was particularly strong, holding the Tigers hitless through the first 3.2 innings. Despite getting runners in scoring position in the first two frames, the Rebels would finally break through in the third inning.
A Mackenzie Pickens walk, Llamas single and Madi George walk loaded the bases for Reasner, who picked up her first RBI of the day on a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0.
In the fourth inning, Ryan Starr got things started with a double. Kennedy Bunker promptly drove her home with her own double, increasing the lead to 2-0.
The Rebels finally broke the game open in the fifth inning. Llamas and George picked up hits, before Reasner launched a three-run home run to take a 5-0 lead. A pitching change didn't help the Tigers, as Taylor Roman came off the bench to hit a solo home run and extend the lead to 6-0. Despite loading the bases later in the frame, the Tigers managed to extend the game and strand more Rebel runners.
Whitten continued to shine, working around a double in the fifth inning and going one-two-three in the sixth inning to preserve the shutout. From there, the Rebels tacked on more support in the top of the seventh inning.
Walks from Bunker and Pickens set up an RBI opportunity for Llamas, who delivered her career-high fourth hit to extend the lead to 7-0. From there, Reasner secured the single-game record, blasting her second home run of the night for her first multi-home run game as a Rebel, extending the lead to 10-0.
Whitten returned in the bottom of the seventh inning to polish off the shutout, securing two more strikeouts to finish with six on the day, as the Rebels locked down the victory.
The Rebels return to action tomorrow evening, traveling to face Central Arkansas for the second time this season. Wednesday's game will get started at 5 pm. CT and be streamed via ESPN Plus.
