No. 15 Baseball Shuts Out No. 18 Alabama Behind Rabe’s Gem

5/15/2026 | Baseball

BY JEFF ROBERSON

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Taylor Rabe and JP Robertson combined for a two-hit shutout of Alabama Friday night as Ole Miss defeated the Crimson Tide 9-0 to even the series at one win each. The finale is at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

The Rebels are now 36-19 overall and 15-14 in the SEC. The Tide is 36-18 and 17-12.

Rabe was sensational on the mound through six innings. The right-hander struck out 13 and allowed just one hit and one walk, facing 21 batters.

Robertson was also terrific in this one. With his team leading 5-0, the right-hander came in to start the seventh and gave up one hit and walked one with three strikeouts, facing 12. Two Rebel runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth provided insurance.

Ole Miss took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. After Judd Utermark singled and Tristan Bissetta doubled, a Will Furniss groundout to the second baseman got Utermark home. Furniss had five RBI in the contest.

It was in the top of the fifth inning that the Rebels added to their one-run lead. Owen Paino led off the inning with a solo shot to right for a 2-0 Ole Miss lead. But the Rebs weren't done in the inning. After a one-out Dom Decker single, and a two-out Bissetta walk, Furniss launched a home run to right center, and the Rebels led 5-0.

Robertson entered the game to start the Alabama seventh and gave up a two-out single by Jason Torres. The next batter, Brennan Holt was hit by a pitch, and the Crimson Tide had runners on first and second. But a Luke Vaughn groundout to second ended the frame.

In the top of the eighth, the Rebels added to their lead. A two-out single to left by Collin Reuter was immediately followed by a first-pitch home run by Austin Fawley to the scoreboard in left. The Rebels led 7-0.

Robertson took care of the Tide in the eighth, and the Rebels added to their lead again in the ninth. Decker, who had reached on a single, moved to second on a Utermark groundout, to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a Furniss fly ball to right. It was 8-0. On another wild pitch, Bissetta, who had walked prior to the Furniss fly ball RBI, scored from third to make it 9-0.

In the ninth, Robertson finished the Tide off with a groundout, a strikeout, and a fly out.

Hayden Federico, Fawley, and Decker had two hits each. Ole Miss had 11 hits to two for the Tide.

Rabe (4-3) was the winner for Ole Miss. Alabama left-handed starter Zane Adams (6-4) got the loss. Robertson's save was his first of the season.
