TELEVISION PERFORMANCES

During his three seasons at Ole Miss, Deuce McAllister has had a flair for producing big-time performances when the Rebels have appeared on national television (CBS, ESPN or ESPN2). The following is a list of McAllister's "prime time" performances in front of the glare of the TV cameras:

Ford Motor City Bowl
December 26, 1997 vs. Marshall (ESPN)
Pontiac, Michigan (Pontiac Silverdome)

Scores two touchdowns in the second half, including the game-winner on a one-yard plunge with 31 seconds left as Ole Miss defeats current Minnesota Viking-star Randy Moss and the Marshall Thundering Herd 34-31 in the inaugural Ford Motor City Bowl. McAllister's 20-yard TD catch and run off a swing pass from quarterback Stewart Patridge puts the Rebels up 21-17 in the third quarter. Trailing 31-27, with 2:40 left in the game, Ole Miss marches 75 yards in nine plays with McAllister carrying four times for 39 yards, including a 24-yard run on third-and-one to the Marshall 17-yard line.

November 26, 1998 vs. Mississippi State (ESPN)
Oxford, Mississippi (Vaught-Hemingway Stadium)

With starting quarterback Romaro Miller out with a broken collarbone, McAllister is forced to carry the bulk of the offensive load against in-state rival Mississippi State in the annual "Egg Bowl," televised by ESPN on Thanksgiving Night. Rushing 40 times for 177 yards, McAllister becomes just the second Ole Miss rusher and the first since Kayo Dottley in 1950 to break the 1,000-yard rushing mark. His 40 carries also ties Dottley's school single-game record.

Sanford Independence Bowl
December 31, 1998 vs. Texas Tech (ESPN)
Shreveport, Louisiana (Independence Stadium)

In head coach David Cutcliffe's Ole Miss coaching debut, McAllister sets an Ole Miss bowl and Independence Bowl record with three TDs. He scores his first on a 32-yard catch and run on a pass from Romaro Miller to put Ole Miss up 14-7 in the second quarter. His second score, a four-yard run, opened a 28-10 lead with 3:28 left in the game. After the Red Raiders scored to close within 28-18 with 44 seconds left, McAllister fields Texas Tech's onside kick attempt on a high bounce and rambles 43 yards untouched past the surprised Red Raider kickoff team for his third score of the game, capping Ole Miss' Independence Bowl victory.

October 16, 1999 vs. Alabama (CBS)
Oxford, Mississippi (Vaught-Hemingway Stadium)

In a nationally televised SEC Western Division showdown by CBS, McAllister accumulates 269 all-purpose yards, scores two TDs and also completes a pass for 18 yards. He tallies 141 all-purpose yards in the second half to key a late Ole Miss rally from a 24-7 deficit. His 22-yard TD run with 7:33 left pulls the Rebels to within 27-24, however, the Crimson Tide would go on to a 30-24 victory.

November 6, 1999 vs. Arkansas (ESPN2)
Oxford, Mississippi (Vaught-Hemingway Stadium)

"The Deuce is loose on the Deuce" from the very start as McAllister returns the game's opening kickoff 100 yards en route to amassing a school single-game record 317 all-purpose yards. Deuce would score three TDs on the day, including a 40-yard run to put the Rebels up 28-3. He would finish with 125 yards rushing, 34 yards receiving and a school single-game record 158 yards on three kickoff returns.

November 20, 1999 vs. Georgia (ESPN2)
Oxford, Mississippi (Vaught-Hemingway Stadium)

McAllister records his third straight 100-yard rushing performance with 104 yards on nine carries. His 84-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter is a career-long and would be the longest rush in the SEC in 1999.

November 25, 1999 at Mississippi State (ESPN)
Starkville, Mississippi (Scott Field)

Against the nation's top-rated rushing defense, Deuce churns out 134 yards rushing on 36 carries. He also tallies 213 all-purpose yards, catching two passes for six yards and returning three kickoffs for 71 yards. The 100-yard rushing effort will be McAllister's fourth straight, and mark the fourth time in the last five games that he has accumulated more than 200 all-purpose yards.

Sanford Independence Bowl
December 31, 1999 vs. Oklahoma (ESPN)
Shreveport, Louisiana (Independence Stadium)

Deuce launches his 2000 Heisman Trophy campaign with a 239 all-purpose yard performance against Oklahoma in the 1999 Sanford Independence Bowl, televised by ESPN on New Year's Eve Night. McAllister rushes for 125 yards on 17 carries, including scoring on an 80-yard run to put the Rebels up 21-3. He also catches three passes for 55 yards, including a 25-yard TD pass from Romaro Miller for the game's first score, and returns three kickoffs for 63 yards. No play, though, would be more important than his 42-yard kickoff return after the Sooners took a 25-24 lead with 2:17 left in the game, which help set-up Ole Miss' game-winning scoring march that results in Les Binkley's 39-yard field goal as time expired.

September 9, 2000 vs. Auburn (ESPN2)
Oxford, Mississippi (Vaught-Hemingway Stadium)

McAllister amassed 257 all-purpose yards and scored three TDs, including an 87-yard punt return in the third quarter. His 26-yard TD burst up the middle in the second quarter was his 26th career rushing TD, breaking Archie Manning's school career record of 25. McAllister would later add a second rushing TD with a one-yard dive over the top in the in third quarter.

October 14, 2000 at Alabama
Tuscaloosa, Alabama (Bryant-Denny Stadium)

McAllister saw limited action as he suffered a high left ankle sprain early in the first quarter. He would return only for a few plays and finish the game with 10 yards rushing on four carries.
