Rebel Fastpitch Goes 2-3 at Georgia State Tournament

ATLANTA, Ga. The Rebel fastpitch softball team dropped two games on Sunday to finish 2-3 in the Georgia State Tournament. In the first game the Rebels (7-13) lost a pitchers dual 2-1 to Saint Louis University and then in the second game they were shutout 8-0 by Tennessee Tech.
Tennessee Tech scored four runs each in the third and fourth innings capped by a three- run homerun. The game was called in the fifth inning due to the mercy rule which states that if a team has scored eight runs at end the of five, the game is ended.
Kay Maroon pitched five scoreless innings for Tennessee Tech to post her third victory of the season. Bobbi Wurth (3-2) took the loss for Ole Miss .
In the first game of the day, Ole Miss and Saint Louis battled to a 1-1 tie after three innings. Rachel Davenport singled home Mandy Shklar in the third inning to give the Rebels a 1-0 lead but Saint Louis answered with runs in the third and fifth innings to take the win.
Ole Miss finished 2-3 in the tournament, posting wins over Georgia Tech and Georgia State and losing to Northwestern State Louisiana on Saturday. The Rebels return to action Thursday in the South Florida Speedline Tournament.
