Florida Salvages Final Game From Ole Miss 13-3

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Kurt Keene's grand slam capped a nine-run fifth inning as the Florida (12-11, 1-2) rolled to a 13-3 win over Ole Miss (12-6, 2-1) to salvage the final game of the weekend's three-game series. The victory snapped the Gators' six-game losing streak to the Rebels.
Florida registered nine hits in the fifth inning. Tony Socarras started the scoring with a three-run home run, his seventh of the season, off Rebel starter Joey Cramblitt to put the Gators up 7-1. Taylor Wood scored on a fielding error by right fielder Craig Nugen, and second baseman Mark Kiger added a RBI double.
Jeff Cardozo (2-0) pitched five innings to earn the win, allowing one run on three hits and three walks, and struck out six before leaving the game in the sixth with stiffness in his right shoulder.
Kenny Birch worked the final four innings in relief, striking out a career-high seven to earn his second save of the season.
Cramblitt (3-2) suffered the loss, allowing 10 runs, eight earned, on 11 hits and three walks in 4 2/3 innings.
All nine Gator starters picked up at least one hit led by Keene and Tim Olson with three each. Florida out-hit Ole Miss 17-7.
Chad Hill hit his second home run of the year for the Rebels with a solo shot in the fifth to cut the Florida lead to 4-1. Jude Voltz added a two-run shot in the ninth, his fifth of the year, for the 13-3 final.
