OXFORD, Miss. - Shortstop Brent Dlugach and second baseman Michael Lewis had two RBIs each as Memphis downed Ole Miss 6-3 Wednesday evening, in front of 1,564 at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.

With the win, the Tigers (13-28) snapped a six-game losing streak and recorded their first win in Oxford since April 26, 1995.

Freshman right-hander Stephen Gostkowski (2-4) pitched three scoreless innings, allowing one hit and three walks and was designated the pitcher of record. He also struck out three.

Jeremy Zick (3-4) worked six solid innings but was hurt by a lack of run support in suffering the loss. He was charged with two runs on five hits and one walk, while fanning five.

Memphis took a 1-0 lead in the first when Kevin House singled to start the game, and after advancing to second on a passed ball and to third on a wild pitch, scored on Lewis' single to left.

The Tigers added another run in the third on Ryan Martin's sac fly to left and then broke the game open with two runs in the seventh to make it 4-0.

After Ole Miss (25-17) broke through for a run in the eighth on a RBI single by pinch-hitter Justin Donovan, Dlugach gave Memphis two insurance runs in the ninth with a two-run triple.

The Rebels threatened in the bottom of the ninth, scoring two runs to bring the tying run to the plate. However, Dlugach made a diving stop on a ball hit up the middle by Chad Sterbens to force Stephen Head at second, and two batters later, Erik Filsinger coaxed Charlie Babineaux to fly out to left to end the game.

Filsinger was credited with his first save of the year.

Tiger catcher Kurt Welch went 3-for-5 as Memphis out-hit Ole Miss 14-10.

Seth Smith went 3-for-3 for the Rebels and Sterbens went 1-for-5 to extend his hitting streak to 10 games.

The two teams combined to strand 25 runners on base, with the Rebels leaving 13 on base.

Ole Miss will continue its 11-game homestand Friday night when the Rebels open a three-game Southeastern Conference series against SEC East Division-leading South Carolina. Game time is 6:30 p.m., at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.
