ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Reserve Christi Thomas had 24 points and eight rebounds to lead No. 19 Georgia past Mississippi 79-62 on Sunday.

Thomas is normally a starter but freshman Rebecca Rowsey took her place in the lineup against Ole Miss (15-10, 6-5 SEC). Rowsey responded with career highs of nine points and 12 rebounds.

Janese Hardrick scored 16 points and Sherill Baker added 11 for Georgia (17-7, 6-5).

Amber Terrell led Ole Miss with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Carletta Brown added 10 points.

Ole Miss led by as much as nine in the first half before Georgia went on a 14-4 run in the final four minutes to take a 37-36 halftime lead.

Georgia then opened the second half with a 12-2 run to make it 49-38 with 15:40 left.

Ole Miss got as close as 51-45 but Georgia quickly got the margin back into double digits, where it remained for the rest of the game.

Before the game, Georgia suspended leading scorer Kara Braxton indefinitely for violating unspecified team rules.

The 6-foot-5 forward, who was suspended three times last season, was averaging a team-high 13.7 points and eight rebounds.
