Rebel Golfers In Fifth After First Round In Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Ole Miss men's golf team wrapped up the first day of the Conrad Rehling Alabama Invitational in fifth place with a 308 first-round team score Friday at the Ol' Colony Golf Club.
Jordan Dempsey once again led the way for the Rebels, firing a 36 on the back nine on his way to a first-round 75. He is currently tied for 12th place.
Only one golfer, Steve Tiley of Georgia State, managed to break under par in the first round, as only three others shot an even-par 72 at the 7,079-yard course.
Sophomore Brice Bailey followed up the best tournament of his career with another solid round of 76 on Friday, which ties him for 18th place. First-round scores for the Rebels also included a 78 by senior Lucas Boyd, a 79 by sophomore Callum Macaulay and an 80 by sophomore Kyle Ellis.
Ole Miss will enter the second round behind leader Michigan State (299), Georgia State (302), last year's champ Alabama (304) and UAB (307). The rest of the 12-team field includes College of Charleston, Memphis, Michigan, Mississippi State, South Alabama, Tulane and Jacksonville State.
The three-day tourney will continue Saturday with the second round and conclude with Sunday's third and final 18 holes.
