PENSACOLA, Fla. - The No. 6 nationally ranked Ole Miss men's tennis team posted its fourth consecutive shutout, sweeping the two-time defending NCAA Division II National Champion, West Florida, 7-0 Friday afternoon at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.

The Rebels posted shutouts against South Carolina, Alabama and Auburn prior to this match. With seven shutouts this year, the Rebels have now posted 13 shutouts during the last two years.

"We faced a very good team," said head coach Billy Chadwick, who notched his 499th career coaching victory, including 107 wins as the Lady Rebel head coach. "They are the defending NCAA Champions in their division, and are playing like it again this year. Now we turn our attention to getting ready for a solid Memphis team. We want to encourage all the fans to come out and support us next Wednesday."

The Rebels (12-2) gained the opening point with dominating wins at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles to improve to 71-3 when they win the doubles point since 2002.

In singles, Ole Miss dominated at the bottom three positions to wrap up the victory. Senior Juan Pablo Di Cesare downed Nicolas Barrientos, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles, Robbye Poole cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Gael Gaetjens at No. 5, and Jakob Klaeson finished off Luis Arboleda, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 6 to clinch the win.

Chadwick switched the lineup a little, reversing Tveit and Claesson at No. 1 and 2 singles. Claesson, ranked No. 24 in the nation, defeated Diego Zorzi, who is the No. 2 ranked player in Division II singles, 6-4, 6-3. He is now just one win away from 30 for the year and is 10-2 in dual matches.

Tveit, who is ranked No. 12 in the nation, beat Alberto Torchia, 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 2 singles to move to 13-1 in dual matches. He has won eight in a row and 20 of his last 22 matches dating back to the fall.

Bram ten Berge completed the sweep with a 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles against Eduardo Cavasotti.

The Rebels return home to host Memphis Wednesday, March 22 at 2 p.m., at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
