Ernie LaBarge Bullpen Club Launches New Website

1/9/2009 | Baseball

OXFORD, Miss. The Ernie LaBarge Bullpen Club ushered in a new era Friday as the organization launched its new website, featuring a new logo and services for fans of Ole Miss Baseball and members of the organization.

The new site www.ErnieLabargeBullpenclub.com features content exclusive to members of the organization, including a message board and sections dedicated to tracking baseball alumni in the professional ranks, camps, and insider looks at current players and the Rebel baseball program.

"As we transition the club into a new era, we're excited about what we'll be able to offer our members in terms of content," said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. "We expect that our loyal fans will be delighted with the quality of information that we will provide, and the frequency by which the site posts updates. The support of our fans in the past has allowed this program to flourish, and we couldn't do it without that support. We think this is one more way to give back to those fans."

The Ernie LaBarge Bullpen Club features a new look, logo and website but serves the same purpose and looks to provide its members with even more in terms of content and features. Fans can sign up for membership on the website in addition to responding via the membership renewal mail-outs going out this week.

LaBarge took the reins of the Bullpen Club when Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco became the head coach in 2000 and was a driving force behind the transformation of the organization from a group of 40 active members to the nation's largest independent support group for collegiate baseball with membership totaling more than 1,400 members.

Under the direction of LaBarge, the Bullpen Club was instrumental in helping the Ole Miss baseball program grow as the organization helped provide innumerable resources for the program. Some of the projects the Bullpen Club has helped with include building a pavilion in left field as well as a playground for children, helped furnish the indoor batting facility and helped provide funding for the current stadium expansion.

Not only was LaBarge involved in the promotion of the program and awareness of the Bullpen Club, but LaBarge also took personal pride in all aspects of Ole Miss and things that went on at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. He was often seen before games wiping down seats before the crowds arrived and also between Regional games and doubleheaders helping clean the stadium for others to better enjoy the atmosphere surrounding Ole Miss baseball.
