Joe David Leads Rebels On Day Two At Mason Rudolph

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Junior Joe David fired a 2-under 69 on day two of the Mason Rudolph Championship to lead the Rebels, who finished with a 285 and stand in fourth place heading into the final round at the Legends Club.
The Rebels started off strong and inched closer to the lead, but couldn't maintain the progress, letting up a little on the final few holes.
"We played well at times and got close to the lead. We made too many mistakes on the last few holes. I think we are pressing too hard. We just need to keep our composure and follow our gameplan," head coach Ernest Ross said.
David, who grew up in nearby Madison, moved up to a tie for third with his 70-69-139 total and is just four back of the leader, Jack Belote (Memphis).
One day after learning he had earned a sponsor's exemption into the PGA TOUR's Viking Classic next week, senior Jonathan Randolph moved into the top 10 (T8th) with a 1-under 70. The defending tournament champion is six back.
Junior Billy Brozovich shot 73 as did sophomore Pete Kellermann. Thomas Watkins carded a 79 that did not count in the Rebels' total score.
Memphis shot an even par 284 and maintains a six shot (558) lead over South Carolina (564), who carded a 279 in the second round. Oklahoma (566) is just ahead of the Rebels at 567. Host Vanderbilt rounds out the top five at 571.
