Senior Goes Par or Better All Three Rounds on Way to First Win

CHICAGO – The No. 13 Ole Miss women's golf team fired a program record 13-under 275 Tuesday during the final round of the Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah to finish runner-up, with senior Kennedy Swann taking home medalist honors.

The Rebels collectively shot the third-lowest 54-hole score in program history, going 10-under (290-289-275—854) during the two days of competition, but came up one shot short of first place Kent State.

Ole Miss led the field in total birdies (56) with 23 coming during the final round Tuesday, and were 12-under as a team on the par 5s. All five Rebels shot under par during Tuesday's final round.

"Today was a phenomenal display of golf by our team," head coach Kory Henkes said. "We really put the pedal down to shoot 12-under on our last nine holes. We are so proud of the overall fight from our team and especially for Kennedy to pick up her first collegiate win."

Swann took home medalist honors for the first time in her Ole Miss career. The senior had a career week, going par or better in all three rounds of competition on her way to a career-low 54-hole score of 9-under (68-72-67—207). Swann was one of two players in the field of 84 to go under par on the par 3s, par 4s, and par 5s throughout the three days.

"Honestly, I can't believe I won," Swann said. "When I made a 45-footer on the last hole for birdie, I still can't believe that went in. I am so grateful to the coaches for helping me through it, and my teammates for supporting me. I've been waiting so long for this moment. It feels so good to finally accomplish it."

Pi-Lillebi Hermansson notched her second top-10 finish in as many weeks after a final round 3-under 69. The senior was second on the team with 12 birdies, her second consecutive tournament with double digit birdies. Hermansson collectively shot 4-under, going 74-69-69—212 (-4).

Junior Julia Johnson moved up 12 spots on the final day thanks to a final round 3-under 69. The St. Gabriel, Louisiana, native earned her 22nd top-20 finish in 30 events played. Johnson went 5-under on the par 5s, while tallying 10 birdies and 35 pars through her 54 holes.

Andrea Lignell moved up 16 spots after a final round 1-under 71, her fifth-round par or better this season. The freshman finished tied for 38th, going 76-74-71—221.

Conner Beth Ball, making her season debut, went 76-76-70—222 to tie for 43rd.

Next up for the Rebels is the Jim West Challenge in San Marcos, Texas, Oct. 20-21.
