BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 31 Ole Miss (5-5, 1-3 SEC) plays at No. 19 LSU (8-1, 3-1 SEC) Friday at 5 p.m. CT and at No. 22 Texas A&M (9-3, 1-1 SEC) at noon on Sunday.

The Rebels will open conference play versus four nationally ranked opponents. Ole Miss will face four consecutive SEC opponents on the road during the month of March.

Two Tough Tests

Last weekend, Ole Miss hosted two ranked teams, No. 3 Georgia and No. 20 Tennessee. The Rebels were swept by the Bulldogs, 4-0, and narrowly lost to the Lady Vols 4-3.

Tiphanie Fiquet, Tereza Janatova and Anna Vrbenska earned singles victories versus Tennessee. Both Fiquet and Janatova defeated ranked opponents. Fiquet improved to 5-1 and Janatova improved to 7-1 in singles during the dual season. They will look to extend their current win streaks to six and seven, respectively.

Ole Miss looks to earn its first ranked victory of the season this weekend. The Rebels are 5-2 versus non-ranked opponents this season.

Last Time Facing LSU

Ole Miss fell 4-1 to LSU in 2019. The Rebels won the doubles point against the Tigers. The two programs did not compete last season (COVID-19 shortened season).

The Rebels last defeated LSU in 2018 and have won three of the last four matches. Ole Miss leads the all-time series 29-18.

Scouting the Tigers

LSU has opened the season with a formidable 8-1 (3-1 SEC) record. The Tigers defeated their only ranked opponent of the season, No. 9 Vanderbilt, on the road (Feb. 22). LSU's only loss this season occurred at Florida on Feb. 26.

The Tigers have two ranked singles players, No. 41 Taylor Bridges and No. 83 Safiya Carrington. Bridges has a 5-2 record this dual season at No. 1 singles. Paris Corley leads the Tigers with six dual wins. In doubles, Eden Richardson and Nina Geissler pair together to form the No. 14 nationally ranked duo.

Last Time Facing Texas A&M

Ole Miss defeated Texas A&M 4-2 at home in 2019. Ole Miss was ranked No. 49 and Texas A&M No. 16 at the time of the match. The Rebels won the contest despite losing the opening doubles point. Janatova clinched the match for the Rebels, and Sabina Machalova and Vrbenska earned wins as well.

In the last road matchup, Ole Miss won 4-2 in Bryan-College Station in 2018.

Scouting the Aggies

Texas A&M is 9-1 versus non-ranked opponents this season, but is 0-2 to top-25 ranked teams. Within the Aggies nine wins, they have won via sweeping their opponents five times.

The Aggies No. 1 singles player is Tatiana Makarova. Makarova is ranked No. 64 and has a 7-3 record in duals (15-5 overall). The Aggies have a .758 winning percentage in dual matches (47 wins, 15 losses).

Makarova ranks No. 39 in doubles with Jayci Goldsmith, and also ranks No. 55 with Jessica Anzo.

Next Up

Ole Miss will compete next at Alabama on Thursday, March 11. The Crimson Tide are ranked No. 43 in the nation.
