Track and Field Wins Four Events on Day Three of Virginia Challenge

Jaiden Davis Breaks a Program Record In Women's 100 M Hurdles

Charlottesville, Va.- The men's and women's track and field teams finished the Virginia Challenge strong. The Rebels had ten top-three finishes across the board and four first place finishes. 

 

Jaiden Paris closed out strong in Charlottesville. Paris not only finished first in the Women's 100 M Hurdles but also broke the program record again finishing in 13.16. 

 

In the Men's 110 M Hurdles, Ahmad Young took first place with a time of 13.54. Young set a new personal-best and also broke a Virginia Challenge record that has stood since 2014. Spencer Brown came in with the second place finish and also recorded a personal-best finishing in 13.75. Kenny Broadnax came in third recording his best time of the outdoor season finishing in 14.09.

 

Gabrielle Matthews kept the big day for the Rebels going with a second place finish in the Women's 400 M Hurdles. Along with the second place finish Matthews recorded a personal-best time finishing in 58.37.

 

The Rebels had another big finish in the Women's 200 M. Jayda Eckford came in first finishing with a season-best 23.81. Ariyonna Augustine came in second place to give the Rebels another big finish in Virginia. 

 

Women's Shot Put added to the top finishes for the Rebels. Jalani Davis took first with a 170.6m/55-11.75 throw. Jasmine Mitchell took third place with a 15.88m/52-1.25 throw. Tedreauna Britt gave the Rebels another top-5 finish coming in at fourth place with a 15.31m/50-2.75 throw.

 

Arvesta Troupe brought home a top three finish for the Rebels coming in at third place. Troupe  recorded a personal best 2.06m/6'9" jump.

 

The track team will head to Philadelphia on April 27th to compete in the Penn Relays on Flotrack.
