Women’s Basketball Welcomes Christian Brothers for Exhibition at SJB Pavilion

10/25/2024 | Women's Basketball

OXFORD, Miss. – Excitement is in the air as Ole Miss women's basketball officially begins its 2024-25 campaign in less than two weeks, yet before the No. 20/21 Rebels will host Christian Brothers for the lone exhibition of the year on Monday, October 28 at 6:30 p.m. CT.

The matchup between the Rebels and the Buccaneers will be free for all Rebel fans as everyone is encouraged to come get a sneak peek into Team 50.

Ole Miss begins the season with lofty expectations, coming off its third consecutive tournament appearance and first season notching 12 conference wins in program history. Garnering national recognition coming in at No. 20 in the AP and No. 21 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin is prepared to take her team to new heights in year seven at the helm.

Eight Rebels return from last year's squad, headlined by Madison Scott who recently earned First Team All-SEC honors in the coaches poll. Throughout her illustrious career, Scott has scored over 1,300 points for the Rebels and holds the seventh most double-doubles in program history with 27. Scott and the seven other letterwinners hold a combined 12 years of experience playing in Oxford and are ready to make history during the program's 50th anniversary.

In the offseason, McPhee-McCuin once again made waves in the transfer portal, bringing in Tameiya Sadler, Starr Jacobs and Christeen Iwuala to bolster her team who returns 48.6% of its scoring and 59.6% of its assists from last season. The Rebels also brought in four freshmen from overseas to the program, each with an abundance of international playing experience.

Following Ole Miss' lone exhibition, the Rebels will open the regular season in style, as its set to face No. 3 USC in Paris for the Aflac Oui-Play on Monday, Nov. 4. That game is set for an 11 a.m. CT tipoff and will be broadcast on ESPN. The Rebels will then return from Paris for their first game at home against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. CT.
