SCOUTING REPORT
Steve Bieser is in his second season at the helm of the Jacksonville State baseball program.

In Bieser's first year with the program the Gamecocks claimed the program's first series win over a Big 10 opponent with a pair of wins over Iowa in the non-conference slate.

Before taking over at Jacksonville State, Bieser was the head coach at Missouri for seven seasons and Southeast Missouri State for four seasons.

The Gamecocks are currently 10-3 and most recently fell to the No. 23 Alabama Crimson Tide 11-1 in a midweek matchup.

Ole Miss holds a 6-1 record over Jacksonville State. The last meeting between the Gamecocks and Rebels was in 2023 where Jax State secured their lone win over the Rebels and walked away with a 10-6 victory.

RETURN OF THE KING
Hunter Elliott made three starts in the opening month of the season, working at least five innings and picking up the win in each. He has only allowed six total hits and has yet to allow a run, earned or otherwise, to score this season.

Elliott is one of 17 qualified pitchers in the NCAA to have not allowed an earned run this season and one of just four to have not allowed an earned run while working 16+ innings. He is also just one of 11 to have not allowed a run at all, earned or unearned.

He is holding opponents to a .122 batting average against and is ranked 19th in the NCAA in hits allowed per nine innings (3.38).

POWER SURGE
Judd Utermark hit two home runs in Wednesday night's win over Murray State, giving him his first multi-home run game of his career. He has now hit a home run in four-consecutive games and has hit five total over his last four games. He joins Andrew Fischer as the only two Rebels to hit a home run in four-straight games since 2007.

Utermark's seven total home runs is tied for second in the SEC with Florida's Brody Donay and Tennessee's Gavin Kilen. They trail only Alabama's Justin LeBron who has nine.

GET US STARTED
Ole Miss' starting rotation of Hunter Elliott, Riley Maddox, and Mason Nichols are sporting a combined ERA of 2.90 through the first three weeks of the season. They have allowed just 13 total runs and struck out 53 batters over 40.1 innings of work. Elliott and Nichols have each reached the 10 punchout mark in a start this season, tying or setting new career-highs.

WASTE NO TIME
The Rebels are outscoring opponents 18-0 in the first inning and 31-1 over the first two innings of games this season, jumping on opponents early. They are 8-0 when scoring in the first inning and 11-0 when they score the first run of a game.

NEVER SAFE
The Rebel pitching staff has picked off seven runners this season, surpassing their totals from each of the last two seasons already. Hunter Elliott leads the team with three pick offs, Riley Maddox has two, and Mason Nichols and Walker Hooks each have one.

FEDERICO SUAVE
Nine games into Hayden Federico's career, the freshman currently leads the team in on base percentage at .545. He has at least one hit in every game he has played in and is one of only three Rebels with a three-hit game this season. He has also scored a run in all but two games of his career.
Federico hit the game-winning single Wednesday night against Murray State for his first career walk-off hit.

IT JUST MEANS MORE, MAN
Ryan Moerman collected three more hits Wednesday night, bringing his average over the last five games to .500 with five doubles, two home runs, and 10 runs scored during that time. Moerman is up to .391 on the season and leads the team in multiple-hit games with six total.

HOOK 'EM
Walker Hooks has made five appearances already in his young career allowing just four baserunners, one of whom he picked off, over seven innings of work. He made his debut on February 15 against No. 19 Texas, coming out of the bullpen with the bases loaded and just one out. He struck out the first two hitters he faced and would go on to retire all eight he saw. The freshman is up to 10 total strikeouts and is holding opponents to a .087 batting average against.
