ON THE VERGE OF HISTORY
It's been nothing short of a historic season for the 2024-25 team, setting new accolades no team in Ole Miss history has ever done before.
• Currently tied for the third most rounds under-par in a single season by an Ole Miss team at 20.
• The Rebels carded the second lowest single round score in school history, shooting 265 in the first round at the 2025 Old Waverly Collegiate Championship.
• Set the second lowest 54-hole score (819) twice this season. First at the 2024 Visit Knoxville Collegiate and again at the 2025 Mason Rudolph Championship.
• Michael La Sasso tied the fourth lowest 54-hole score by an individual in program history, shooting 201 in route to his first collegiate win at the Hamptons Intercollegiate.
• Cameron Tankersley tied Jackson Suber for the fifth lowest 54-hole score by an individual in program history, shooting 202 at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate.
• La Sasso currently sits tied for second alongside former Rebel Braden Thornberry for the most rounds in the 60s in a single season at 16.
THOSE BOYS CAN PLAY
The recipe for success for Ole Miss this season has been solid team golf. Michael La Sasso, Cameron Tankersley, Cohen Trolio, Kye Meeks, Tom Fischer and Collins Trolio have all finished inside the top five at least once this season.
Tankersley and Meeks set new career-best finishes and career-low 54-hole scores during the fall. Tom Fischer secured his first collegiate win at the 2025 Old Waverly Collegiate Championship, carding a new-career low 54-hole score of 203 in route to victory.
La Sasso broke through for his first collegiate victory back in October at the Hamptons Intercollegiate (Oct. 7-8). The junior from Raleigh, North Carolina dominated the field shooting (-15, 201) winning the event by 11 strokes. He picked up his second win in the regular season finale alongside Fischer at Old Waverly. Cohen Trolio began his spring with a new career-low 54-hole score of (-11, 205) finishing fifth at the Puerto Rico Classic.
GAME RECOGNIZES GAME
With arguably one of the deeper lineups in the country, the accolades for Ole Miss' Michael La Sasso and Cameron Tankersley have piled in during the 2024-25 campaign. Both were named to the 2025 Ben Hogan Award Watch List on January 29, recognizing the top 40 amateur golfers in the country. La Sasso was named a semifinalist for the Hogan Award on April 17, placing him among 10 of the best collegiate golfers in the nation. Building off an All-American season in 2023-24, La Sasso was named to the 2024-25 Haskins Award Presented by Stifel First Spring Watch List on March 10. The duo of La Sasso and Tankersley have combined for 36 rounds in red figures and 11 top 10 finishes this season.
BROTHERLY LOVE
Golf is one of the more unique games that can be played as an individual or as a member of a team. When you pair family with it, the game doesn't get much sweeter. For the sibling duo of Cohen and Collins Trolio, having the chance to play collegiate golf for the same university over the next two seasons is something they'll cherish forever.
"We have a really cool relationship and have been around each other and our best friends" Cohen said. "I missed him when I was gone and we'd talk on the phone most nights, but it's cool to be able to come to a school and play together and learn from other people."
"It could not have worked out any better because I never saw us getting the chance to play collegiately together" Collins said. "I learned to play the game by watching Cohen so it's cool now that we get to compete against each other and play on the same team."
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
The Rebels look to make it back to postseason play after heartbreak last season at the Stanford Regional. Ole Miss fell one stroke from the cut line to advance to the NCAA Championship. The team finished the 2023-24 regular season with seven top five finishes, 16 individual top 10 finishes, and a team victory at the Seminole Intercollegiate down in Tallahassee. The Rebels carded 20 rounds under par, including a 262-round score on the final day of the 2023 Visit Knoxville Collegiate. The 262 score of (-18) set the new lowest single-round score in program history.
FULL SWING AHEAD
Following the SEC Championship, the Rebels will wait to learn their postseason fate with the NCAA Selection Show on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. It is there that the team will learn what seed and NCAA Regional they will be traveling to May 12-14.
