Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan Wins Third Straight NCAA Indoor Title, Ole Miss Track & Field Nabs Pair of Top-15 National Finishes
3/14/2026 | Track and Field
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Ole Miss track & field wrapped an excellent indoor season with two top-15 team finishes and another national title in the storied career of star thrower Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan to close out the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday.
The Rebel women took 14th at 18 meet points, while the Ole Miss men tied for 15th at 16 points – only the fourth simultaneous pair of top-15 finishes in school history indoors, all under 11th year head coach Connie Price-Smith since 2022.
The competition was tighter than predicted with six over 20 meters and five over 66 feet, but Robinson-O'Hagan still led wire-to-wire for his third consecutive indoor national title in the shot put. The senior took the lead on his first attempt of 20.42m/67-0 and improved to 20.52m/67-4 in the third round, but Nebraska senior Cade Moran turned the heat up with a 20.40m/66-11.25 in the fourth round before Oregon sophomore Kobe Lawrence got within an inch of Robinson-O'Hagan at 20.50m/67-03.25.
But that only spurred Robinson-O'Hagan on further, who gave himself some breathing room on his fifth-round blast of 20.65m/67-9 – his best of the day and eventual winning toss.
The victory is Robinson-O'Hagan's fourth NCAA shot put title, his third in a row indoors that joined him alongside Kansas' Karl Salb (1969-71), UTEP's Hans Hoglund (1973-75) and Arizona State's Ryan Whiting (2008-10) as the lone Division I men to win three consecutive indoor shot put titles.
Robinson-O'Hagan concludes his indoor career as one of the best and most productive combo shot/weight throwers in collegiate history. He leaves with those three indoor national titles, seven First-Team All-America honors indoors and an astounding 50 career NCAA points scored indoors. He also leaves ranked second in collegiate history in combined shot/weight distance at 45.53m, and No. 2 in SEC history in both the shot put (21.18m/69-6; No. 20 collegiate history) and weight throw (24.35m/79-10.75; No. 13 collegiate history).
Junior Akaoma Odeluga, fresh off her first career NCAA points as the fifth-place finisher in the weight throw last night, added an NCAA runner-up to her career accolades after an excellent field series.
Odeluga was in second wire-to-wire from the first round on, with her best coming in the sixth round at 18.45m/60-06.50 – trailing only collegiate record holder Axelina Johansson of Nebraska, who won at 19.55m/64-01.75. Odeluga's runner-up finish is the best by a Rebel woman since Olympian Raven Saunders claimed the 2017 title, and it gives her 13 of Ole Miss' 18 total meet points this week.
Those other five points came courtesy of senior Alicia Burnett, who finished fourth in the women's 60-meter dash – her first career NCAA final. Burnett, who became the first woman to win an SEC title in the 60-meter two weeks ago, ran 7.18 for that fourth-place finish at her first career First-Team All-America honor. Her performance is the second-best by a Rebel woman in the event all-time, trailing only Teneeshia Jones' third-place finish in 2000.
Ole Miss also had a pair of Second-Team All-America finishes in the men's jumps on Saturday, with junior Sterling Scott finishing 11th in the triple jump at 16.13m/52-11, and senior Arvesta Troupe finishing 14th in the high jump at 2.15m/7-00.50.
The Rebels will now turn the page quickly to the outdoor season, returning home to host the Ole Miss Classic at Prefontaine Stadium on March 20-21.
