Sterbens, Waite Power Ole Miss Past Tennessee Tech

OXFORD, Miss. - Chad Sterbens and Charlie Waite both hit home runs to lead Ole Miss to a 4-1 non-conference win over Tennessee Tech Monday evening, in front of 1,538 at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.
With the win, Ole Miss improved to 28-18 and matched its season-high at 10 games above the .500-mark. Tennessee Tech dropped to 20-19 on the season.
Sterbens finished the night 1-for-4 with three RBIs to extend his hitting streak to 14 games. He hit into a fielder's choice ground out in the third inning to score Shawn Yarbrough to tie the game at 1-1. He then broke the 1-1 tie with a two-run home run in the fifth inning. The homer was his second of the season.
Waite made it 4-1 with a two-out solo home run in the seventh, his fourth of the season.
Freshman left-hander Brae Wright (3-2) allowed one run on three hits and one walk, while striking out five in six innings to earn the win.
Nick Bradshaw then pitched three scoreless innings of relief to record his first save of the year.
Freshman southpaw Ben Pincus (1-1) allowed three runs on five hits and four walks in five innings in being charged with the loss.
The Rebels out-hit the Golden Eagles 7-5 on the evening.
Ole Miss will next travel to Jonesboro, Arkansas for a 6:30 p.m., non-conference game with Arkansas State on Tuesday. The game will mark Ole Miss' final non-conference game of the year. The Rebels will open a three-game Southeastern Conference series at Arkansas Friday evening at 6:30 p.m.
