CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Ole Miss Men's Tennis wrapped up its spring debut and opening weekend Sunday, earning two more victories on Day 3 of the Miami Spring Invite at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The men played an altered schedule and did not face off in doubles play due to inclement weather, but were led by senior Fabian Fallert and freshman Simon Junk's three-set thrillers against the host Hurricanes.
Fallert, after falling behind in the opening series 4-6, reversed the decision and evened the score in the second set, picking up the win after grueling out a 7-6 (7-4) tiebreaker.
Junk used a different route to victory, taking the first frame 6-3 but dropping the second 4-6 to force a third set, which he then triumphed with in a reverse of the second set at 6-4.
Junior Tim Sandkaulen and freshman Jan Soren Hain each faced ranked opposition, with Sandkaulen falling 6-4, 6-1 to the 35th-ranked Jankulovski and Hain faltering in identical 6-2, 6-2 decisions to No. 97 Francisco Bastias.

The Rebels remain on the road in Orlando, Fla. for a dual match against No. 8 Texas on Wednesday at 11 a.m. CT. The match is a part of the USTA Collegiate Series and will be one of four in the series to debut new Playsight technologies.
Ole Miss will then return to Oxford for their home opener with a doubleheader of dual matches against North Alabama on Saturday, Jan. 19, beginning at 2 p.m.
