AUBURN, Ala. – Despite a wild week in which the Rebels went from indoor to cross country and then to outdoor in a span of six days, the men's and women's Ole Miss track & field teams are already in strong shape following an excellent conclusion to Auburn's Tiger Track Classic on Saturday. At the end of the day, three different Rebels came away with event titles while 13 others managed to crack the top-three in their respective events.

Both Rebel throws squads continued to put on a show in their first outdoor meet of the season after a solid open in the hammer throw on Friday. Jasmine Mitchell claimed victory in the women's shot put in her first try outdoors, throwing an overall PR of 16.27m (53-04.50) to launch all the way up to No. 5 all-time at Ole Miss that also puts her No. 11 in the NCAA. Tedreauna Britt notched a one-inch outdoor PR herself in fifth place, which has her slotted at No. 5 on the Ole Miss list.

Britt's day wasn't done there, though, as she won the discus in her first try in two years. Her last time throwing the discus was as part of Team USA at the Pan-American U20 Championships in Costa Rica in 2019, and her toss today nearly topped her U.S. U20 title winning throw from that year, falling one inch short at 53.97m (177-01). Shey Taiwo also had a solid open in third place at 49.10m (161-01).

Daniel Viveros succeeded in his first outdoor meet as well, finishing runner-up in the men's shot put at a PR of 18.38m (60-03.75) – already the third-best throw outdoors in Ole Miss history and No. 9 in the NCAA at this early stage.

Both Rebel pole vault squads recorded strong opens on Saturday. Peyton Weissmann won the men's edition at a sizeable season-best clearance of 5.20m (17-00.75), with Cole Colozzo returning to action for the first time since the 2020 indoor season as the runner-up at 5.10m (16-08.75). On the women's side, Lyndsey Reed and Samara McConnell both cleared 4.07m (13-04.25) – the fifth-best height in Ole Miss history – with Reed taking runner-up honors and McConnell third place.

Kenney Broadnax completed his long return to the outdoor men's 110-meter hurdles following an indoor injury in 2020, and did so with a career performance on Saturday. Broadnax was the runner-up at a career-best 13.90m (+2.7), the fifth-best time in school history. Broadnax last ran the 110-meter hurdles at the NCAA East Regional in May of 2019, where he just missed out on qualifying for the national meet as a freshman.

Other Rebels recording top-three finishes on Saturday include Brandee Presley in the women's 100-meter dash (second, 11.41/+0.1), Tristyn Wooley in the men's 200-meter dash (second, 21.13/+1.1), Marcus Dropik in the men's 800-meter (third, 1:52.10), Makayla Fick (second, 4:34.64) and Morgan Claire Rose (third, 4:36.27) in the women's 1500-meter, and Allen Gordon in the men's high jump (second, 2.15m/7-00.50).

The Rebel men and women will now return home next weekend to host their first home meet in two years with the Ole Miss Classic, set for March 26-27 at the Ole Miss Track & Field Complex.
