FACILITY INFO
• The 2017 season was the first for the renovated Ole Miss Track & Field Complex, which was originally built in 2004 before receiving $7.2 million in upgrades that can seat 1,500 spectators in its new design. Recently, a brand-new locker room facility -- the Jerry Hollingsworth Track & Field / Cross Country Facility -- was opened for use as an addition to the overall complex. Both sets of renovations helped the facility shine for the 2022 SEC Outdoor Championships, which helped generate an estimated $2.8 million in business for the Oxford community.
MEET NOTES
• Ole Miss is coming off a successful start to the outdoor season last week at Georgia Tech's Yellow Jacket Invitational, where the Rebels came away with seven event wins.
• All-American senior Jasmine Mitchell nabbed one of those wins in the women's shot put, setting the current early-season national lead at 16.88m/55-04.75. For her efforts, Mitchell was named the SEC Women's Co-Field Athlete of the Week.
• Ole Miss also owns seven additional marks currently within the NCAA top-20 at this early point of the outdoor season. On the men's side that includes junior Iangelo Atkinstall-Daley in the triple jump (No. 3, 15.36m/50-04.75), sophomore Arvesta Troupe in the high jump (No. 3, 2.18m/7-01.75), senior Jake Dalton in the hammer (No. 9, 65.42m/214-07) and junior Drew O'Connor in the pole vault (No. 14, 5.22m/17-01.50). Other Rebel women include two-time reigning NCAA Indoor weight throw champion Jalani Davis in the hammer (No. 4, 63.99m/209-11), senior Eni Akinniyi in the triple jump (No. 17, 12.52m/41-1) and freshman Skylar Soli in the hammer (No. 18, 58.67m/192-06).
• All of those Rebels will be in action again this weekend, as will dozens of others making their 2024 outdoor season debut. Included in that latter category is sophomore Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan, who returns to the ring for the first time since nabbing the NCAA Indoor championship in the men's shot put. Last outdoor season as a freshman, Robinson-O'Hagan won the SEC hammer title, set both Ole Miss records in the hammer and shot put, and finished eighth in the deepest NCAA hammer final of all time on the men's side.
