Men’s Golf Ends Regular Season in Second at Mossy Oak Collegiate

WEST POINT, Miss. – The No. 5 Ole Miss men's golf team wrapped up its final round of the regular season at Mossy Oak Collegiate shooting 852 (-12) through three rounds to secure a second place finish for the Rebels.
Cameron Tankersley led the way for Ole Miss and secured a 210 (-6) total finish in 6th place out of the 84-player field.
The Rebels finished in the top three in five of the eight scheduled tournaments this season and look to keep their success rolling in postseason play. Ole Miss will now focus on postseason play at the SEC Championship next week at Sea Island Golf Club.
"We got off to the start that we were looking for today to make a run," said head coach Chris Malloy. "Unfortunately we just shot ourselves in the foot too many times in the middle of our round to maintain momentum. Now we have to get back home and prepare for the SEC Championship."
Overall, the Rebels were second in tallied birdies amongst the 14-team field capturing 61 total birdies. Michael La Sasso and Tankersley combined for 32 total birdies between the two of them for the Rebels. As a team, Ole Miss was second in the field in par-5 scoring at 22-under.
Tankersley secured the lone top-10 finish for Ole Miss. The Tennessee native came out hot on day one shooting 5-under. He continued to shoot low at 1-under during the second round and carried on a 73 (+1) in the final round of play. Overall, the sophomore secured the 6th place finish to capture his seventh top-10 career finish.
La Sasso shot par for the first two rounds at Mossy Oak and kept things going during round three shooting 2-under. The sophomore sensation led the 84-player field in birdies with 18 making a total of 122 on the season. La Sasso also secured the lone eagle in the books for the Rebels and finished the tournament T18 earning him his tenth top 20 finish in his career. The Raleigh, North Carolina, native successfully completed the 2023-24 regular season, finishing inside the top 20 in every event.
Tim Tillmanns ended with a 215 (-1) total to wrap up the tournament tied for 21st. The Kansas State transfer was even on par 4's throughout his three rounds at Mossy Oaks.
Competing individually, Collins Trolio also finished at 215 (-1) overall tied for 21st with his Rebel teammate. The West Point, Mississippi freshman returned to his hometown and came out with a season-best finish.
Kye Meeks secured his best round of the tournament at 70 (-2) which earned him a total of nine rounds at or below par this regular season. The redshirt-junior finished T27 on the books with a 217 (+1) total.
The second individual for Ole Miss was Patton Samuels, who ended tied for 50th at 6-over overall. Tom Fischer ended his time at the Mossy Oak Collegiate T55 with a 223 (+7) total amongst the three rounds.
Ole Miss will look to compete next at the SEC Championship April 24-28 in Sea Island, Georgia at the Sea Island Golf Club.
