Track & Field Earns Four Berths to NCAA Indoor Championships

3/5/2025 | Track and Field

INDIANAPOLIS – Ole Miss track & field scored four total entries from three athletes in the initial qualifying lists for the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships released late Tuesday night.

Medical scratches can be applied until next Tuesday, but Ole Miss will have at least these four qualifying entries at the indoor national meet, which will be held March 14-15 in Virginia Beach.

Leading the way for the 18th-ranked Ole Miss men is junior Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan, who will look to defend the first of his two national titles from 2024 in the shot put next Saturday.

Robinson-O'Hagan – the reigning USTFCCCA Co-National Athlete of the Week who has already landed on the first two watch lists for The Bowerman for 2025 – is fresh off another dominant conference meet, repeating as the SEC champion in both the shot put and weight throw this past weekend at Texas A&M.

He enters the national meet as the collegiate leader in the shot put at his career-best heave of 21.11m/69-03.25 from Vanderbilt's Music City Challenge on Feb. 15, which this season ranks 12th worldwide and third in the United States. All-time, that blast from Robinson-O'Hagan currently slots him at 21st in collegiate history.

Robinson-O'Hagan will also represent the Rebels in the weight throw, where he enters seeded fourth overall at his SEC meet record and title-winning heave of 24.35m/79-10.75. In addition to a meet and facility record – as well as shattering his own school record – that performance ranks him second-best in SEC history, 13th-best in collegiate history and eighth on both the worldwide and U.S. lists for 2025.

In collegiate history, Robinson-O'Hagan now ranks second all-time in combined weight (24.35m) and shot put (21.11m) career-bests at a total distance of 45.46 meters – trailing only North Dakota State's Payton Otterdahl from 2019 (45.92m).

Junior Arvesta Troupe earned his first career national ticket and will compete for Ole Miss in the men's high jump in Virginia Beach, thanks in large part to his career-best effort last week in an exciting SEC competition. Troupe took the silver medal on a PR height of 2.22m/7-03.25, which puts him into a tie for 13th on the final descending list accepted into the meet.

Sophomore Akaoma Odeluga will represent the Ole Miss women in the shot put next Saturday, her second career national qualifying berth and her first indoors. Odeluga enters ranked sixth in the women's shot put at her career-best 18.37m/60-03.25 from Kentucky's Rod McCravy Invitational back on Jan. 11. Last year as a freshman, Odeluga became the second-best under-20 shot putter in American history and went on to win the World U20 title over the summer for Team USA.
