Rebels Shoot Final Round 10-under 278, Briggs Places Fourth

KAUAI, Hawaii – The No. 37 ranked Ole Miss men's golf team wrapped up its fall season on Tuesday by shooting a 10-under 278 in the final round the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational. Behind another 66 (-6) from senior Beau Briggs, the Rebels moved up one spot on the leaderboard to place eighth (276-295-278—849) at 15-under.

"Today was a better day for us as a team," said head coach Chris Malloy." "We were still one score short of putting together a really good round but we will get that figured out. I really like this group and am confident that we have our best golf ahead of us in the spring."

"We have had some great individual performances throughout the fall season, so that is certainly a positive."

Briggs finished the fall with consecutive top-5 finishes. The senior tore up Makai Golf Club once again for a three-round total of 66-73-66--205 (-11), good for his career-low 54-hole score and a fourth-place finish. Briggs led the team and was third in the field with 18 birdies over the three days and was in the top-10 individually for the entire tournament. The Covington, Louisiana, native also paced the 112-man field in par-3 scoring, going 2-under on the short holes throughout the tournament. During the final round, he recorded three birdies apiece on each side without making a bogey.

After back-to-back even par rounds, Thornberry broke through on the final day, going 3-under on the back nine with no bogeys. The senior was third on the team in birdies throughout the tournament with a dozen.
